I dont think the Belt goes Ofor against Navy, they have slid ever since PJ left.
Not sure how you figure that.

Navy with Paul Johnson as coach
45-29 (2-2 bowls)

Navy with Ken Niumatalolo as coach
49-30 (2-4 bowls) and they are coming off a 24-6 victory over MTSU in last years Armed Forces Bowl.

Sure, the bowl record isn't what one would hope, but I don't think it's fair to say they have "slid ever since PJ left."
Well if you knew that PJ took over a disaster that had only 2 winning season in the previous ten years and had won ONE game in the previous two seasons you may understand my statement a little more. He had to endure the pain of installing his offense and recruit his players then you would understand raw numbers are not the whole story. PJ got handed the keys to a pinto on fire and Ken got handed the keys to a refurbished hot rod. They are still competitive and better than they were but going 8-5 when PJ had them 8-5 year two and 10-2 and their first bowl win since 1996 by year three, not to mention the first win over ND in Lawd knows how long, is not exactly moving forward.

Then I guess PJ wasn't "moving forward", except out the door to Georgia Tech, since in year 6 he went ....8-4. I know perfectly well what Paul Johnson did when he took over at Navy. He did a fantastic job, no question. However, you wrote that they have "slid ever since PJ left," which most people would interpret as going backwards as a program. I understand your statement perfectly well, I just do not agree with it.

You brought up record alone which in no way was a good comparison or fair in anyway as PJ took over a dumpster fire and after year one did not have another losing season. Ken has and still not bested PJ's best. There is a reason PJ got stolen away and Ken has not. Also concerning 2007 not a banner year for PJ but that schedule has six current BCS teams while Ken latest had four one of which was Indiana...Context sometimes it comes in handy. Also outside of PJ's first year he had never been outscored in a season Ken has. Certainly not improving, maybe with a easier CUSA schedule he can actually start improving the numbers rather than still not being able to match PJ's best. Semantics I guess but I dont think GaSou loses by less than a touch down to a PJ coached team.

Paul Johnson is a good coach. However he needs to win the big game each year or he will not last
at Georgia Tech.

I think it is Tech more than coach at this point. He has done as well as any coach at Tech outside of Ross and slightly less than O'leary who got to play Donnan coached thUGA teams.

Does not matter when they only have one win over the last thirteen years. He will get blamed by those wanting to see a change regardless. His recruits, his system, his consequence. Either win that one or he will not last much longer. Him being a local guy from just a handful of miles from Boone, and an App grad it pains me to say that but
it's true.

It is a broken record for GT at this point. I dont like it but unfortunatley thUGA has no competition in this state right now. GT has slid from the 1990's and has become a mid level P5 program. Can they close the gap, with the deep pockets they have yes but it will take a lot of things coming together for that to happen.

Just came up with 16 - 28.
Thought it might be interesting to look at this now that many of the OOC games are behind us and see where we are at.

Currently 11-27 with 5 games remaining and 1 cancelled. Guess we all need to win these last 5 games to basically be even with what the OP asked. :(

Well nobody knew how bad Troy and App were going to be. That at least would have put us at 13 wins most likely 14. No way they should have lost to mediocre FCS programs and Southern Miss...and that probably will not be the story moving forward for either. Definitely a step back this year OOC which most predicted but a couple of plays away from being dead on or within one game.

Only two more likely wins if GaSou and USA can sweep Navy. Idaho beating San Diego would not be earth shattering either. Who knows its a looooong shot but USA and ULM can save the season with two big upset wins over average SEC teams in South Carolina and TXAM...04-rock
