RE: La Tech @ Southern Miss
Just listened to Skip's presser and I'm a little worried now. I didn't realize USM throws the ball so much. The QB is putting up big numbers too. We have NOT played a good passing team yet this year. And now you RUSH for 200 yards on North Texas?! He praised your offense and said you have improved every game (the young guys are starting to "get it") and the OL is playing really well now.

So I'm thinking USM may put up some points. He didn't mention the defense, except that #97 is really good on the DL and played well against MSU and Alabama. Tell me more about your Defense. Statistically, it doesn't look real good.

My momma taught me that if you don't have anything nice to say, just be quiet.

I remember when we played you guys for many years. I think one year we beat either auburn or Alabama, the following week we played you guys in The burg and Terry Bradshaw beat us like a drum... Now that's going back a longggggggg time: coffee3:

Defense is undersized, but slow. Also doesnt tackle very good. Considering all that, the numbers are about where you would expect them.

RE: La Tech @ Southern Miss
It's going to be interesting then. I don't know how we will play against a team that throws the ball this much. I guess it will depend on how much pressure we can get on the QB. This may turn out to be a shootout, but I really trust that Manny Diaz will have a good scheme... he's earned my trust. But... we haven't seen a good passing team yet, so we'll have to wait and see.

Your best chance to stop Tech is to stack the box and limit Dixon's yards and play man on our receivers. We take our shots downfield, but we only hit about 1/3 of them. When we hit them, we rock and roll. When we don't, we struggle.

This game really has a Tech letdown written all over it. I just don't have much faith in our offense these days. But on the flip side, we are a bunch of road warriors. Playing our worst at home and best on the road doesn't really make sense but that's the story this year.

Here's what you need to know about the D..

Can you run the ball? If you can, we appreciate you coming to Hub City and we'll return the favor one year.

Up front we are decent. Roches (97) is good and will have a chance to play on sunday. Where we are hurting is at lb. Not alot of quickness or depth. Biggest problem in the secondary is we are playing 2 rs freshmen and 2 true freshmen.

WE seem to have found a good combination on the ol. Against mtsu and nt we moved the ball well pretty much the entire game.

I think we're better, don't think we're quite good enough to beat Tech.

Honest opinion...I don't know about that. I can tell you that offensively, WE have been VERY inconsistent. Our defense has continued to get better, but you guys are gaining momentum offensively. All of this, coupled with added intensity from old teammates on opposite sides of the field...

I THINK it will be an enjoyable, good, hard-fought, close game. Looking forward to seeing y'all Saturday in the 'burg.

04-cheers

La Tech was originally favored by 13.5 points over USM at home...that was IMMEDIATELY printed and posted all over the USM player's locker rooms. Our guys are absolutely hungry for a win, a chance to get to .500 overall and in conference. We're 3-4....and we have 5 games left (3 at home and 2 on the road)......our guys are hungry as hell and know bowl eligibility is a real possibility this year. Our guys are MOTIVATED.

Well I hope they'll post in the locker room that the line is down to 8 just to keep it fair.

And please spare me the "well if your team needs motivation like that to when a game then your team has a bunch of problems..."-yadada bull dookie. C'mon man, we went 1-23 the past two years, any motivation will help us right now. And add in the fact that we're 1 game away from .500 and bowl-eligibility in sights in the next month.

WE HONGRY!

Yeah, the score was 27-20 and we never got over that drum beating because Tech was little league at the time.
