Cajuns are just something else

It's the latech complex. Mostly bothers Louisiana teams.

First off we do not have a LaTech complex. It's the fact that this conference and teams in this conference undermine what we are trying to do. Our goal is to become Louisiana, and to become the 2nd best in Louisiana. We have been trying to earn that name for the past 14 years. Also it does not help also with being in a conference with ULM. The fans take it as a slap in the face by conference members and by the conference itself when they refer to us as ULL.

The thread got started because you have AState fans calling us ULALA, LALA, and ULL.

We're all trying to improve our recognition and status....you're not unique in that. We're just getting started but understand the concept. Try being us, with 11 other FBS teams in the state.

What your conference mates refer to you on a message board has zero impact on the matter.

I call you Louisiana or Cajuns when you behave yourselves. When you get out of hand I forget.

I always call you Louisiana. Sounds better after we beat you. I have never figured out how you can't figure out call yourself what you want. Stop jumping on folks who use the other names. Eventually most people will call you what you want. Some will always call you the old names. That won't change. The arguing will only get others tired and out of spite they will use the offending names. But keep doing what you do...it's been so successful.

Y'all are the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Therefore, ULL. I get wanting to try and be the second university in the state and be the University of Louisiana, but until y'all can get it to stick in the legislation, or get ULM (the University of Louisiana at Monroe) to change their name, then you will be ULL.

It doesn't make any sense to call y'all UL without also calling ULM UL. But that would be too confusing. As long as y'all have the same exact name with the only differential being the suffix, no one besides yourselves will refer to you by UL. Nor should they.

Thanks for clearing that up for us! This argument has been ongoing for decades. Nothing that you or me can say will change peoples' preference. Thank you for your interest in the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns.

By the way, I just want to say that I do support y'all's cause. I am curious though, is there any proposed legislature at this time to change things up? Like making y'all UL and the Flagship of the University of Louisiana system?

There will never be a second flagship university in LA! The state has to protect LSU A&M at all costs. So in addition to not allowing another flagship, the legislators will never allow another medical or law school to exist. Louisiana and progressive education can not exist in the same vacuum.

You being branded as Louisiana would be a benefit to the conference and the rest of us. Your fans sometimes make it really, really, hard to want to though.

When was the change from USL? I guess since no one could find Lafayette on the map, you decided you need the whole state to be relevant. USL is a much better name than Ulala.

ULL fans need to go cry to the Memphis State fans. It's not that we don't respect you....we know it pisses you off. When it stops getting y'all riled up, there will not be a point to it.
