RE: Marshall's Big Out of Conference Win Not Looking So Good
Marshall can't even draw 30k fans a game. They do look a lot like the better D1aa's.

The CUSA homers will go away, yet those same posters would take a AAC invite immediately.
And they can keep the butt kissers from the AAC who go over there trying to pat CUSA in the back. Marshall fans just need to focus on their winning the FCS. That is an accomplishment they should be proud of.

According to every other objective source, ECU's schedule is only a few spots slightly less terrible than Marshall's. Sagarin is the only popular poll I can think of that shows ECU's schedule a lot higher than Marshall's. RealtimeRPI, warren nolan, ESPN power index, etc all show ECU as having one of the worst schedules in the country with Marshall due to UCONN, SMU, Tulane, Tulsa, USF being bad and UNC, Vtech, USC not performing as well as expected. And regardless of how Sagarin comes up with SOS formulas, he still has Marshall ranked higher. Marshall is ranked higher in 48 of 50 computers pools by an average of 13 places.
If you're going to use someones SOS formulas then you kind of have to go with their actual rankings of teams as well, since that is how they form everyone's SOS.
UNC just lost to ND by 7 and beat GT.
Don't let that get in the way of everyone's opinion that us crushing UNC meant nothing. They aren't a great team by any means, but they are more talented than any team on Marshall's schedule by a long shot.

No doubt, I think UNC may still end up being a good win if they can take a lot of their remaining games. If they finish out 1-4 or 2-3 it isn't going to look like a good win though. You want them to be at least 6-6 or 7-5 to be a top 40-60 win for the season. Their schedule is certainly a bit easier now, but 3 of their remaining 5 games are on the road so it is pretty likely they end up 5-7 for the season.

RE: Marshall's Big Out of Conference Win Not Looking So Good
Marshall fans play the victim/little brother/"we done been done wrong" better than any school in the country. If you reveresed the schedules and records between ECU and Marshall they would be whining the same whine they are whining now. Its a long standing tradition in the state of West bygod Virginia to whine about everthing.
West Virginia should be known as Whine Country

If I'm going to focus on history I'll just focus on the fact we stomped a mudhole in the Pirates last year.
It would be fun to watch Carden spend another holiday on his a$$ like he did last Thanksgiving.

Can confirm. Most of my family lives in WV. I had to put them in their own special group on Facebook so my feed wasn't littered with their constant whining.
All of WV's problems are someone else's fault. Always.

Must hurt the Marshall folks to have 5-2 big brother WVU jump ahead of your 7-0 Herd for their first appearance in the AP Top 25, 272 votes to 184 votes.

I honestly was drawing blanks when I read "big out of conference win" knowing what the schedule was.
