And Franklin went down on purpose at the 1 with under a minute left. Heck of a game all around.

BUGS was 3-0, the weather was fine, and there was hardly anybody there. Pathetic.

Didn't catch the game itself, but from the box score and description it sounds as if BGSU was making the mistakes today and WMU was not and if that is true, it usually plays a big role in the final score.

Yep. But the difference this year is that Toledo has already run the gauntlet in the West and is still undefeated. NIU has only played Mac West game, and they lost. They still have the bulk of their West schedule to play.

Babers said it best "We were really off today. We made lots of mistakes. That had a big effect on the outcome." Doh! Apparently a ref went down and no replacement. Only had six officials

Watched some of the game on BCSN...the bg crowd was pitiful, just pitiful I tell ya. A little bit better than the EMU crowds, but still a complete embarrassment. It was a beautiful fall day and what in the world else is there to do in that dump of a city?

Actually a BG win would have for all intents and purposes eliminated WMU from any realistic chance at the MAC west this year which would be good for UT. But with their win over BG they are still kind of hanging around hoping for a UT loss at NIU and winning out themselves in order to try to set up a three way tie---same situation as UT was in last year after the NIU loss---at present I think that WMU may actually hold the tie breaker, but that is still subject to change as season wears on.

I still think that WMU is a year away from making a serious run at the MAC West but this win does still leave them still hanging around for a while longer.

WMU and NIU still have to play. That'll about be an elimination game.

NIU also has to play at Ball State - and they just took down CMU who happened to take out NIU in DeKalb. It all comes down to how well teams match up against each other. NIU has been tough for us because they have had good defensive teams for a few of the years we played them, and we could not stop Harnisch or Lynch with the run/pass threat. This year it seems Dare is on the same run/pass scheme, but he is not as good as Lynch or Harnisch at it - and their defense is inconsistent and will struggle to stop our run game. We have to play smart and protect the ball and not have stupid penalties at critical points in the games we have left to play. Talent wise - we are deeper than any other team I see out there. Weakness is the secondary because of all the injuries and illnesses that hit that unit.

Wmu plays cmu and niu still... Good luck taking a very young team and defeating both of them. Im guessing lots of teams in the west will be 6-2 and 5-3 with us at 8-0(I HOPE). The east might not have many teams who can compete with our division. Their champion may be 6-2 or 5-3....

EMU and Kent probably have little chance of knocking off a contender, but other than those two just about anybody has a shot at knocking off anybody else. I would like to hope that the Rockets are a little above the pack but it remains to be seen.

I'm pretty sure we will run the gauntlet the rest of the way. But the thing to remember is Akron last yr and emu gave us one hell of a scare two yrs ago. We should have won against niu a couple times that we played them. Who can remember that defensive game a few yrs back. 63/60. Head coach - I had faith in my defence. One time out and the game was ours.

At this point the current standings and the remaining schedules both strongly favor the Rockets' chances in the West but they still have 5 more games to play.

Good point---the remaining schedule definitely favors UT.
