I question why they waited until it was soooooo close to the game before announcing this auction. This is a big ticket item and is a great idea. People, or a company, looking to bid, needs to already have these tickets in their hands and have people lined up to give them to.

With my measly four tickets, I start lining up people to go with me to each game about a month in advance. In my opinion, it should have been bid on back in Sept. and awarded by Oct. 1.

Would it be appropriate to assume that this was donated to the Duke club and is actually owned by a individual or maybe a corporation?

Being so late, their best hope is that a local company or local business person wants to bid and have local people who can use the 15 tickets. Inviting people to use them, who will need to travel, they will not be able to get rooms and most likely will have their weekend plans set by the time the invite comes to them.

It's not as early as you wish, but this was first announced on October 9 to the public at large and circulated to large $ donors before that.

I just don't see how the winning bid can assemble customers and employees to use the tickets with such a very short time frame from the time they are told they have won them.

Well, the bid is up to $4,600, so they seem to be doing pretty good regardless of the timing.

That is good news. What should the face value be for that package?

RE: Homecoming Tickets
plenty available online. You're gonna have a hard time finding anyone on here with 10+ on season tickets unless they're donating 11K.

I'd be looking hard at those lower seats in 414 and get 5 in front of 5. Maybe not seats for a big spender, but a great view of the field, our team's sideline, the jumbo-tron, and the mountains. Everybody has their own preferences.

RE: Homecoming Tickets
Is it normal that a Homecoming game against one of our biggest CAA rivals, W&M, is not yet sold out, and they're having to offer "flash sales" and other deals to get rid of the tickets? Seems to me that interest level in the program has certainly started to wane if we can't sellout family weekend or homecoming, particularly when homecoming is against a ranked W&M team where there are playoff implications for both teams.

We haven't sold out a homecoming game since 2011 and this year was the first family weekend that didn't sellout since I've been following in 2005.
We have more capacity then demand. The 2011 attendance was a lot of people showing up to see the new stadium and maybe they were tricked into thinking we weren't "division 2" anymore. When they realized we were, it normalized back to the 20k that most people realistically expected with consistent, winning seasons.
The rivals draw marginally bigger crowds compared to non-rivals. I believe if you look at it, it's a few hundred more people.
Delaware, William and Mary and Richmond don't have as much pull as many on here try to make it out to be.

Thanks. Didn't realize we hadn't sold out HC since 2011.

Agree with your take on these so called "rivalry" games.

nothing brings the fans out more than a mediocre football team. Win games and we'd be at or near capacity.
