ECU's schedule is daunting, yet again.

9/5 - TBD (Likely an FCS opponent)
9/12 - @ Florida
9/26 - Virginia Tech
10/10 - @ BYU

What about the rest of you?

Thought you guys normally didn't play FCS?

It looks like our strategy going forward will be 1 FCS to open the season with since we have done that the last few years.

I actually think we're catching Florida at the best possible moment. Theyll likely be breaking in a new coach.

But we return 90% of the rest of the 2 deep. So we will be strong. If Benkert is as good as we think he is, we will be in contention.

The good news is our offensive line will be experienced as well as great receivers and running backs.

09/12 - at Georgia Tech
11/14 - at Army
TBA - Duke

Add one FCS school to that, and you're staring 2-2 right in the face. Away to GT will be rough. Duke was a school that we scheduled when they were really bad - but they're not bad anymore and that makes this slate more difficult that we'd like it to be.

Could be one of the greatest years in Temple Football history.

The Notre Dame game is the second in what was announced as a three game series. Game one was last season at ND. The last mention of game three had it scheduled for Sept 2 2017,but as of today, game three is not listed on either teams future schedules.

You're going to actually play AT UNC-Charlotte??? In that tiny little stadium?? That's surprising to me.

Charlotte probably landed that 1-1 thanks to relationships formed while being A10 rivals with Temple.

Hopefully we will schedule a beatable team for our fourth OOC. These are my favorite Texas schools to play, plus they are excellent competition for Pre-conference with our new coach.

Ruffin has done a fantastic job building the program for sustained success.

We're losing more than 10% of the two-deep (12 of 44 guys is 27%), but aside from Carden and Williams/Rose the transition should be smooth.

Edit - And I mean no disrespect to Hardy! He's a great Pirate and a very reliable target.

How can get a team get Penn St and Notre dame at home and then play charlotte away?

Penn State and Notre Dame are happy to play at Temple because they play in a NFL stadium where they can bring 30,000 fans.

B/c Temple is in Philly, and both Penn State and Notre Dame have HUGE fan bases there.

I remember hearing the same thing. I want to say Boston College was the target, but not really sure on that one. It would make for a beastly OOC schedule.

We should get BCU again. They bring a crowd and we need a warm up before USCe & Stanford.

I'd be in favor of dropping FIU for BCU, but not both on the same year. In fact a cycle of FIU, FAU, and BCU wouldn't be terrible. But for the sake of the conference, we needthe other three to be P5

BGSU is typically an upper level MAC team, and KU and Missouri State should be W's. 3-1 to start the year? Cool.

Yeah plus if your gonna play a team like Florida I would honestly rather play them at their best or not at all. Losing to a top 10 Florida is ok, beating a top 25 Florida is awesome. Beating an unranked Florida is meh and losing to an unranked Florida is fairly likely and hurts us (see USCe this year).

Its a traditional power in a ridonculously rich recruiting area and we're playing in their massive stadium. You know they are going to have good athletes on the field and if we beat a 6-6 Florida team no one is going to care. We were lucky that our loss this season came to a then ranked USCe who had been in the top 10 to start the season.

Of course I'm not complaining about playing them. You never know exactly what you're going to get when you schedule a team and scheduling Florida is a great get most of the time. I guess if we manage to go undefeated it will be worth it but a "down" Florida just seems like one of those high risk/low reward games.

I think there are 3 types of teams we should play out of conference.

1. Wins (fcs or low tier fbs)
2. In state/regional rivalries (UNC, NC State, VT)
3. Top 25 teams (I recognize that Florida could have just as easily fit this category if they weren't going downhill right now)

Excellent competition might be an understatement. BTW SMU had to have the toughest open to a season this year that I have ever seen in college football. Looking at current rankings...

@ #4 Baylor
@ NT
#21 Texas A&M
#12 TCU
@ #18 ECU

That is just ridiculous 04-jawdrop
