Coaches Luncheon V
Dear Friends,
There were about twenty-seven people in attendance, including Coach Creighton's wife.
One gentleman who attended, played for Drake University in the late fifties, early sixties. They were a member of the Missouri Valley Conference at the time. He has lived in Ann Arbor for about thirty years, and attended U-M games, but came to Eastern's game Saturday and to the luncheon to talk with Coach Creighton.
The reason for all of this was that he said the fans at Eastern were cheering, and jumping up and down.... things he hasn't seen in Ann Arbor for several years. He will be back for Eastern's next home game.
Great Ibe was in attendance, and when asked about the goal line stand, he said they were able to stop Buffalo because the defensive line stuffed their offensive line, and then the linebackers and defensive backs came up to make the tackles.
Coach Creighton thought the offensive line for Massachusetts was not effective, but their quarterback is very good. So, he said they were going to try and work a scheme to take advantage of their offensive line. He also said that Bell will be the starter at quarterback. When asked if Bolden was hurt for the reason for Bell coming into the game against Buffalo, he said Bolden was not hurt and that they had planned to give Bell some playing time.
