Does UTA have a distance learning program?
Yes, FGCU
Funny.. alright man stop piling on.
Look, it just makes sense for UTA to start Football. They would be in the same position as South Alabama except they are twice as big and the conference has three more football teams. If Missouri State is added then that gives them another close conference rival.
If UTA Brings back football they need to be in the SLC. Their 20 - 30 something enrollment will not attend UTA Games. UTA has money to burn so why not but they are not up to the quality of the Belt. Lamar and SELU each brought football back from the dead but struggle to reach 8,000 in atendance.

there are nearly 35,000 at uta and the school certainly does not have money to burn..it is true that metro area fans are fickle and it is hard to get them to support anything but the local pro sports. uta will not play in the slc . the school made a decision to part ways with the small regional schools as part of the movement to tier one. there will be no rush to restart football but if and when they do , they will probably do it right. with over 135,000 alumni in the metro area, it is possible that decent support could be had if a good product is put out there but games against teams from the slc schools would only draw well if it were sfa and maybe sam houston coming in to play. we have a history with some of the belt schools, so that would be the only way to go.

The MAC has no interest or reason and the MWC must not be that concerned, I'd be surprised if any of the CUSA would turn down the MWC, especially if it were in a two school package.

Actually they aren't in the same position as USA. Here's what makes them different.
They reside in a metro with a NFL team and FOUR FBS teams, two of which are P5 (Baylor and TCU). They have no place to play.
That being said, UTA can make a go of it, if they are so inclined.

I would argue the reason would be access to the most fertile recruiting ground in the nation, access to 3 of the top 20 media markets, and increasing their brand.

Actually, I think the MWC has wanted to get back into Texas ever since they lost TCU.
If they ever need to add another school I would be surprised if it wasn't a Texas school.
Hopefully us...lol

Waco is an hour away from the closest metro city, so there are only three in metro. And like I said, it doesn't make a difference. Few people who are connected to UTA would say I'd rather only go to UNT. TCU is considered Fort Worth's team, but SMU draws people related to SMU and UNT draws people related to their school. UTA would be no different.
UTA does have a place to play. Two actually. We have an on campus stadium that would need work, but it has been used as a high school stadium for two Arlington high schools since it opened in 1980, in addition to the six seasons it was home to UTA. There is also Cowboy Stadium two/three miles away, but I hope that never happens.

The MAC has easily the tightest footprint...adding Texas schools? If you say so.
