UTEP surprises me a bit. I actually thought La Tech would have more.

We have a lot of new players. I think we are a bit of an unknown.

Return 4 starters though, right? If so, then you only need your new guys to not be completely terrible and you should be solid.

4 returning starters, but the bench is young. Murray St transfer Eric McCree will probably start at the 4, but a lot of the bench are Freshmen. They had a really good pre-preseason tourney in the Bahamas a little while back, so I hope they are gelling. Time will tell. I'm ready for the season to begin. White will have them ready to play.

As long as your coach plays the subs right so you don't end up with a full team of inexperienced guys on the floor, I think you'll be fine.

My biggest concern is replacing Kenyon McNeaill's 3pt production. He made 88 last year. Our 4 returning starters combined for 96 last year.

It's an unusual roster, but it should work. Don't think I've ever seen four main guys returning and the other nine are newcomers. White did a good job to add a couple of jucos and a transfer to help balance the classes. I bet your four returners will log a ton of minutes though.

Not sure why it is surprising. UTEP returns 4 starters and had the top recruiting class in the conference. People did pay attention to how well Vince Hunter played at the Lebron James and Kevin Durrant camps this summer. I think UTEP has a good chance to beat Arizona in El Paso. I am expecting UTEP to enter conference play at 11-1 or 12-0. In addition UTEP did beat La. Tech last year.

Because you finished 5th in the conference last year and once again didn't bring your best recruits onto campus.

I fully expect UTEP to compete for the CUSA championship, but I just didn't think they'd get any national respect for the reasons I mentioned above.

How the hell did you get Arizona to come to El Paso? That will be a tall order but will be rooting for you guys in that one...

You probably are aware that we lost all of our effective guards because of a gambling incident that involved the FBI at the start of conference play. We were left with a very streaky number two pushed to run the point. When he (Cooper) played well we almost always won and when he played bad we pretty much lost. We actually came together and played decent for a small run but eventually ran out of gas with our limited bench. I guess the saying is true , you are only as good as your point guard. We reloaded pretty well and even though some of our prized recruits did not make it to campus the ones that did arrive seem to be pretty solid. Time will tell how they adjust to the college game. I am confident we will be a strong contender for the CUSA championship and it is NCAA or bust, meaning Floyd will be getting heat if we are not dancing come March.

Do you think Cooper be your PG again this year?

I am surprised UTEP didn't get more votes. UTEP will be a very good team this year. With Hunter and Washburn look out! Miners will finally have some guards... Miners finished 5th, but could have easily finished top 3... So I don't see where you would be surprised?? Maybe it's the way UTEP beat ODU last season? lol

Cooper will probably be our starting pg but I think come conference play Omega Harris will overtake him. That kid is a baller and looks like we struck gold with an under-recruited gem like Hunter. Our other recruits appear to be pretty good shooters from deep, something we sorely lacked last year as well. I cant wait till bball, we are truly a basketball school.04-cheers
