You laugh but it definitely debatable.

Hypothetically:

Would you rather your program win 3 conference championship but go 0-3 in it's bowl games

or

Would you rather your program come in second every year but go 3-0 in bowl games?

RE: stAte vs Louisiana Pre-Game Thread.
I've seen this argument somewhere before...

"We've won more head to head matchups."
"Oh yeah, well we've won more championships."

(hint... we played a thursday night game against them a few weeks ago)

I'm looking forward to this game. The Cajuns had an impressive performance against TxSt, but it's hard to tell how much of that was UL playing better or TxSt flopping.

I think i'm going to give the edge to stAte, but I'm not betting on it.

Well, for some it is to sell t-shirts, lose to Bama by less than three, have gold-plated locker rooms, lose in a better conference than yours, and have Herbstreit say something nice about you.

But in our corner of Arkansas the rings are the thing. Y'all?

Last I checked, the national championship was decided in a bowl game

This is sports. Championships are the goal.

I realize that this has been blurred in the modern marketing era. But I'll take our players earning rings every time.

It's only debatable to teams who finished second.

That's almost as many rings as stAte has in three years.

Good job!

So what is it that stAte is doing wrong? What will you have to do to not be perceived as 2nd? Why does nobody notice y'all? Serious question? Y'all have had dynamic coaches also so why would you not get the attention that we are getting?

We have 5 rings in 3 years.

Again, we're splitting hairs.

I'm fine with the attention that stAte receives.

I wouldn't trade the past three championships for more attention.

Not lose a coach every year. We get overlooked because no one honestly expects we can continue to repeat the feat. To our fans, its irksome, but its not some major deal. We wouldn't trade a conference title for more exposure.

If we go 10-2 and Anderson leaves...we'll just collect our 3 million dollars and hire someone else.

Probably market, not having a major sports city nearby, and a state sports media that is just a marketing arm for another school.

I'm not willing to trade championships for recognition. That doesn't mean the lack of recognition isn't irksome.

As a newbie to the Sun Belt, my perception was (and still is) that stAte is the premier team in the conference. Part of that is to due with the high profile coaches they have had as well as TV exposure. I've seen stAte on TV more than any other SBC team over the past 4-5 years.

As for this game? I'm afraid the Cajuns will be disappointed and that stAte wins big.
