Yea it's 1971 but it gives you an idea of how a Maximum Isolation BioResearch Facility is designed.. Minus the Nuke in the Basement.
CDC/Emory has some of the same features.

I still can't fathom how a bio level 4 agent was treated so carelessly in Dallas. I wonder if we will ever get the full story.

1. An ER Nurse turned away the Index Patient at the first ER visit despite the 103 Fever and the Travel History.
2. Total garbage Personal Protective Equipment used bu Nursing Staff
3. Patient 3 doesn't realize she can't fly across the nation after treating an Ebola Patient?

I wonder how much I am over reacting because I read the book The Hot Zone. It's a 5 dollar book on Amazon kindle. If Richard Preston is telling the actual story those nurses should have been in positive pressure suits. It's just freaking unbelievable. If someone in Akron pops up with Ebola its Marshall Law time in my opinion.

The first movie I ever watched. Watched it again in the 90's. I passed on Uncles taking me
to a haunted house and stayed at the funeral home. My family ran multiple funeral homes lol. Great movie BTW. Micheal Chricton book?

The movie is fantastic and the book even better. It is really the only Crichton book I really, really, really like.

The book is much better and much scarier than the movie, but the tech in the movie was pretty cool for the year.

Bolded portion may not be accurate
" Officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have reportedly confirmed that they gave Ebola patient Amber Vinson permission to fly on a commercial plane Monday, even though she had a low-grade fever, according to several reports."

Yes on both.
Crichton (1942-2008) will never be mentioned alongside Hemingway or Twain or Updike, but he had an uncanny sense of how advances in technology would affect people, and the directions (cultural, political, economic, etc.) society would go in as a result. I don't think Andromeda was his first novel but I'm fairly sure it was the first one to be made into a movie, and it was a good one. Better than good.

I've seen it at least 5 times. I remember watching it in the 70's and wondering if it could ever really happen.

Great movie.
But.
Considering the response this Administration and the CDC has had to Ebola, does anyone have confidence that the US Government could actually handle such a bio-agent?
Seriously.
Seeing that nurse catch a flight cross-country based on CDC advice leads me to believe that there are no cojones within this Administration to effectively quarantine, diagnose, and cure a bio-agent.
Or worse, a bio-weapon.
At the first true real outbreak law enforcement and medical staff will probably be on their way out of town just like the rest of us.

This is the real elephant in the room that no one is talking about.
While people on Fox News and on this forum are blaming the president, no one is talking about how this hospital completely dropped the ball.

How many people on this board were concerned about the Ebola virus before the first report? Hmmm? How many were actually at the locations where the patients were shipped, to see what happened and to provide their knowledge to the doctors, nurses, etc, to make sure no mistakes were made? How many on this board have never made a mistake?
Obama is President but he is not everywhere at all times, nor is it possible for any President to micromanage everything at every location, even those Republican presidents with little haloes over their heads.

No on this board was hired to understand, research, manage nor develop quarantine plans for an Ebola outbreak. So I am not sure what all you expected this board to do?

I am talking about the US government as managed by the current Administration, not about the President directly. And I have been critical in the past about Reagan's response to the AIDS epidemic.
Will the CDC and the other public health authorities react appropriately to the outbreak? Especially given that the CDC answers to an Administration that clearly values political correctness over competence?
Let’s just say that this is one area where I’d love to think government was as competent as big government’s proponents tell us it is. The track record of the historical and current Administrations is lacking, of course.
