No he is not and he must be the tallest midget at that position right now.

He HAS been punting very well IMHO.

He is a good punter but not field goal kicker. We probably have the worst kicking game in the MAC

Seems like Ness cannot snap the ball worth a lick. Every damn snap is just a few inches off the ground. Getting a little height on it does not seem all that difficult. Last Saturday, Hare was having a problem with every snap, having to bend over to get the ball. And he had the one fumble where the snap went past him. Just another thing to affect his performance.

While we're looking for a new center, can we also PLEASE get a kicker who can kick the ball into the end zone without a 40 mph wind at his back?

Yes, the low snaps are affecting the rhythm of the offense. Hopefully this has been worked on and will be corrected. Almost every snap is low which is unacceptable.

It was like this with Lynch...both in 2012 and 2013.

Those low snaps were a big reason we lost the Iowa game at Soldier Field. Though it was his first start at center at NIU with only a few weeks notice so I totally excuse him for that performance.

My frustration is it has not gotten better over 4 seasons.

RE: Hare or Maddie?
The snap issues falls heavily on our OL coach (Tripodi). Odd that Carey started at center for three years at Indiana. You'd think getting a guy to snap the ball properly wouldn't be an issue.

One would think. I kept thinking this same thing last Saturday watching all the snaps just off the ground.

Back up qb...always the most poplular guy in town..

I don't think it matters if the play calling doesn't change

Hare can not run the same game plan as Lynch.

So change the the game plan...Gus Malzahn found out his qb couldn't throw, so he ran the ball 900x and went to the national championship game.

Great coaches adapt their system around the players they have...not the other way around..

Hare can't run or throw though and takes forever to make a decision on where he's going to throw the ball poorly.. and they don't have the OLine / Running backs that LSU did. Until they change the quarterback, not sure there's a game plan that can work.

They have changed the game plan. They could keep the same offensive strategy if they played Maddie but apparently they don't want to do that.

If Hare is consistently playing like this and the offense is rolling, then yes. His problem has been consistencY

RE: Hare or Maddie?
Hare was outstanding today.

12 for 16 passing for 185 ....17 carries for 180.

Plus he caught a pass... He deserves praise...good for the young guy.

The Defense is regressing...as someone else posted a blitz would be nice once a half.

No pressure on the QB EVER is ridiculous!!!!!

RE: Hare or Maddie?
MD could have ran for 180 on that team. MAC defenses continue to how weak they really are, us included.

Yes, I knew Hare was in there but I kept looking at his jersey expecting to see number 6. GREAT job, Drew!!

Why though? All Maddie did was drive the team down for a touchdown in both his drives? Miami was terrible.

You would think so. I'm not going to go overboard with Hare's day against the poor Redhawk D but to me it's clear.

Yes Maddie is a better overall runner but I think we saw Hare's pretty good at the read option and being "elusive" for lack of a better term.

Maddie was 3 of 5 passing for 22 yards. His 2 incompletions:

-Threw a long pass into double coverage that should have just been thrown away. (Did the same thing vs KSU that was intercepted.)

-The short pass to the wide open RB at the goal line.

I know 5 passes isn't a great sample size....but I just don't see much.
