RE: Contracting the AAC
The AAC will eventually contract, but it will come when the conference has 2 teams picked off and decides that nobody else is worth poaching at that time.

The ex C-USA schools don't want any more C-USA programs if it can be avoided.

The TV deal will not improve if the AAC backfills. The only replenishment that won't financially kill the conference would be poaching from the MWC - and good luck with that unless some things really change.

I don't think it will contract... I think it will be destroyed. In time, I think the ACC will take UConn, and the Big 12 will take 2-4 teams. At that point, teams out west are much better off by going to the MWC than they are sticking to whatever is cobbled together. So at a minimum, I think that 6-9 teams will leave or be taken by P5 conferences and the rest will be absorbed by whatever is left.

Long term, I think the B12, B10, SEC all will have 14 teams, the ACC will have 16 and the Pac 12 will stay at 12. Then they will look to break away and form their own level... but I have a feeling that there will not be enough inventory so they will take the MWC to fill out that western time slots. Of course they will pay them less but it will be MUCH better than what they would get if they stayed.

A person over on our other forum pointed out that then they could take a handful of basketball conferences (A10, Big East, and maybe a western one too) and totally split from the NCAA. The revenue from the tourney along with an expanded playoff would be insane)

Tulane is the only school I would kick out. I like every other school in the AAC. 07-coffee3

5 OOC games is tough if you're trying to have a least 6 home games a season and not schedule more than 1 FCS (ideally none).

That's, like, all but three of us, really, if you count Navy. Neither UConn nor Temple have played under the Conference USA banner.

Tulane is one of the few top level academics in the conference and a great road trip. They have potential and every conference needs an easy W. (and yes, I remember when we served that purpose...and I don't have that great of a memory)
