UPDATE: McIntosh Moved to Safety
Not sure on the context, but it sounded like if he's healthy he's playing.

RE: Carey: McIntosh Could Play Saturday
I'd find it hard to believe that it would be somewhere else besides QB with the limited reps he would have been able to have at another position.

Good Lord. Where did you hear this? What happened to Drew Hare starts the rest of the year? They should just stick with him at this point.

He's played really badly the last 3 times he's been out there. Everyone's seen it.

This tells me Carey believes Mac's poor performance against NU was mostly attributable to his injury.

I haven't seen it. What I saw was an inability to run the ball, poor blocking by our line, terrible play calling, dropped passes, and lousy defense. Our QB has actually managed the game well I thought and has limited turnovers.

And overthrown wide open deep balls, put bubble screens at wide receivers' feet or over their heads, and shown an inability to run the football so opposing defenses can just stack the box and stop the RBs.

I would imagine he was going through with the DBs to test his change of direction. Seems like the most logical explanation.

Did anybody pinpoint what play he actually got hurt on? I never really saw anything?

Definitely interested in seeing what he could do. I just never want Hare to see the field again

Yes, I'm pretty sure it was the play when he was taken out of the NU game. He was out for 4-6 weeks with hurt feelings.

I'm pretty sure whatever injury he has was just a continuation of whatever held him out at times in fall practice. Some sort of leg injury.

Well with a mobile QB taking the snaps your first 3 points pretty much will be different. Especially the play calling because they aren't running the same offense they have been the last few years.

Yeah, it looked like he was carrying an injury into the NU game rather than getting hurt on a specific play. This is kind of concerning to me because this makes it 2 years in a row Mac's gotten hurt. Granted, Harnish did the same thing and had a relatively injury free last 2 years, but it's still something to keep in mind.

Which also begs the thought, if he picked an injured Mac to start against NU over a healthy Hare and Maddie, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see Mac back under center as soon as he's ready to go.

I think it also speaks volumes to the fact that despite missing time in fall ball with a leg injury and obviously still nursing said leg injury, the coaches made him the starter over Hare.

RE: Carey: McIntosh Could Play Saturday
If McIntosh is physically ready, I say that he should start and allow him to go as far as he can. If Hare plays again this season, it should be due to injury only. Hare is a 1 dimensional QB and has little mobility. His passing has been more than suspect.

RE: Carey: McIntosh Could Play Saturday
Makes sense that McIntosh gets his job back if he is healthy.

Let me preface this by saying that nobody really knows the extent of the injury...but the one thing that bothers me is that if an injured McIntosh was better than Hare/Maddie, why wasn't the injury process handled better? Seems within reason that McIntosh may have felt the pressure of the QB battle and practiced in the spring/summer when he shouldn't have. Of course it's possible that he would have re-aggravated the injury either way, but this thing has clearly been lingering for a long time.

He's a one dimensional QB who's been inconsistent at the one dimension he's supposed to be good at.

Yeah he's been zero dimensional. If he was slinging the ball all over the field nobody would have an issue with his play.

This has to be the most botched situation I have ever seen in coaching, no hyperbole there
