Probably....I'm too lazy to worry about what anonymous people say, but I'm 100% confident that Donnie Jones is the answer for us. We are not an elite basketball brand and this process is going to take time. I'd definitely cancel my season tickets of 14 years if they did something so stupid as canning him. We are doing good on the recruiting front. He deserves the right to build our program just like we were patient with O'Leary. We are not going to an elite team in the short term. Just the simple facts coming up from the a - sun ranks and having lower attendance.

I just don't see it. The teams are not well coached. The offense the past few years has been pray that Sykes gets fouled when driving and doesn't miss both freebies. There's no movement and not much passing. Kirk's less talented teams would have been us the past few years. I think Donnie will recruit at a good level, but I just haven't seen anything from his teams to make me think he can coach and develop them. Hopefully he proves me wrong.

Kirk teams rarely ever beat a good team or even a crappy team from the p5. Out of 17 years he beat new mexico, Penn state, and Auburn. Won the A sun twice? That is horrible considering the garbage in that league.

Donnie has wins against top 20 FLA, Miami 2x, USF multiple, Memphis, #4 Uconn, etc. The team last year was a mess no question about that. We had no legit PG play and if Sykes got fouled he had issues with FTs. Sykes was never a great shooter but good enough in other areas to overcompensate. This isn't the c-usa or a sun days. These teams will expose any weakness fast. Kirk lost to a d3 at home for crying out loud. Those were some rough years. We now play over 10 ranked teams in a season. That would be near equivalent to playing a sec schedule in football. We had a stretch with 5 straight ranked teams.

We are very lucky to have Donnie.

Kirk was an awful recruiter until we got him some facilities. I mean, we look down on the A-Sun, but the budget and facilities he had weren't as good as some in that conference until Orsini came in.

I'm not suggesting we bring Kirk back, only that Kirk's teams looked like they were coached. There was ball movement and movement by the players on offense. Kirk's teams though outmanned would play scrappy basketball against better teams.

Donnie just doesn't look like he coaches the team. Like KnightFanDave said above, it's go to the top of the key and maybe pass the ball once or twice. There's nothing going on. No talent being developed really, and no in-game coaching. I'd like to see some sort of actual system in place that would maximize what we have, but there's nothing.

And no one can explain to me how during that first season when Donnie got basically all his marquee wins, that we were pressing and running & gunning, then when conference play started, we stopped, and we started losing. And we've never pressed or run aggressively on offense since. Why?

I'm pretty sure Donnie wants to run a fast/transition style offense. We are lacking those players that can create shots and lacking overall bench depth. This will still be a problem with depth for another year. The offense that you're looking for should be seen next season.

So let me paraphrase. "he is a crappy player going to a crap program." Does that sum it up?

I'm just saying that these threads are always going to result in blind hatred of Donnie/UCF.

Until we start winning. Worked for O'Leary (somewhat) and it will work for Donnie.

Haters going to hate

Disagree...as there are UCF Hoop fans on this site...but if there are others that just want to spam unwarranted negative posts...just put them on ignore.
