Btw, it's week#8.

Hard to argue with Boca's picks although I'll go with BG in a high-scoring, close game.

Akron (-5) 23, Ohio 24
* Ohio cleans up their penalties, gets a couple lucky breaks -- and there you have another MAC game against predictions. Solich aims to right the ship by ripping the zips.

WMU 38, BGSU (-2.5) 48
* WMU comes back late in the game to make the score more even. They're not playing BSU this time.

EMU 24 UMass (-16) 40
* EMU makes a game of it for a good amount, but UMass pulls away. Ties spread. Perfectly predictable.

Army (-5.5) 28, Kent St 17
* Army slowly eats away at Kent St, in the 2nd half. Kent's D is good enough to slow down Army, but their O isn't good enough to keep even at that pace, and their D tires out to let Army run with it in 4th.

Ball St 27, CMU (-9) 35
* BSU's O is better now, but CMU sees the flaws that WMU showed in the 2nd half last week. Not enough to beat the spread for CMU, though.

Miami 20, NIU (-11.5) 27
* NIU doesn't impress anyone this game, yet again. Their D shores up and prevents another disaster -- but doesn't beat the spread. Fans still restless.

BGSU 49, WMU 35. Barnburner alert!

UMASS 38, EMU 24. EMU on the road, can't pick a win.

Army 28, Kent 24. I'd like to pick Kent here, but...I just can't.

CMU 45, Ball State 23. I know, BSU hasn't been blown out yet. I think that changes this week.

NIU 34, Miami 30. NIU is struggling, but Miami isn't there yet.

This is the whacky MAC, where up is down and black is white this year. So I'm taking the contrarian view and calling for a defensive battle, just because.

Broncos are improved and BG has struggled to live up to the preseason MAC champ favorites tag, but I think taking down the Falcons on the road might still be outside our grasp.

Interesting to see if BSU's offensive explosion last week (first half only) was the result of a diamond-in-the-rough QB being found or a questionable Bronco defense caught sleepwalking, or perhaps a little of both. Even so, CMU is too much for the Cards.

BG has struggled? 3-0 in the MAC this year...8 straight dating back to last year....the rest of the conference would love to "struggle" like that

Fair enough, maybe "struggled" wasn't the right word, considering the games have resulted in W's. I was just thinking that based on pre-season predictions (repeat MAC champion), many wouldn't have expected such hair-width narrow victories against UMass and Buffalo. Although credit is due to UMass as they've clearly improved.

I would say in comparison to other MAC teams in this "wacky MAC" year, they're not "struggling" -- they're just no D, high O. They're unpredictable and have a struggling D.

I had the winner flipped (fortunately), but as far as the score prediction and total points scored, not too shabby...
