Needs to be the former.

Going on 2 months and we haven't named a committee yet. I'm starting to lean in the direction of Mr. Denman keeping the job for 2 to 3 years, if he wants it.

He doesn't want it.

Did you talk to him about it or is that an assumption? Either way, you are probably right. Still, there is no evidence that we are in a hurry to hire someone full time, so he will be in that position for several more months.

I have not talked to him about it. He is 62. Close to retirement. Why would he want "the worst job in America"?

My thought has been, for a few weeks now, that he will take the job for a set time (i.e. 2 or 3 years), to get our ship in order and allow us the time to find the best possible fit for the full time AD.

I really don't think UALR is even close to the worst job in America! Who are you comparing it to? Indiana? You ever been to UT-Martin? In any event, good to see you back Jim!

I definitely think we need to go slow and get this hire right. Denman has things under control, so we absolutely do not have to make a "settle for" hire, even if it took a year.

RE: I visited with Dr. Anderson for a minute at the UALR Spectacular
I gathered from talking with Dr. Anderson that's the path we're taking. We're not going to jump into something and make a bad decision since Denman is more than capable of holding things together while we organize and conduct our search. We're lucky we can take a little time in order to make that correct decision. I wonder who is going to be on the search committee. Obviously Dr. Anderson, and probably Denman also. I'd be happy to serve on the committee. I was on our Temple's Rabbi search committee, and we hired a great Rabbi, so that should qualify me as a member.

Thanks. Used Darleen's email to get back on.
