Mississippi family buys unfinished tower in downtown Memphis
I hope this is a sign that people are investing in Downtown Memphis. I hope that the politicians in Memphis don't mess this investment up. If this and other downtown sites start making money, more outside money will come, and not just downtown.

I think there is already plenty of new investment in Downtown. Something billion dollars. The recession only sidetracked it for about five years. It was set to explode in 2007.

From the MBJ (Just how full is South Main's development pipeline?):

"As you can see from the database, we know of more than $174 million in developments in South Main's pipeline. And of that total, $117.4 million, or 66.2 percent, comes from developments that include 942 new apartment units. Add the recently renovated Civil Rights Museum to that list, and you have a total investment of more than $201 million.
The latest development I've reported on is the $17.9 million, mixed-use 266 Memphis Lofts, which is currently slated to open in April 2016."

Again, this is South Main, only, not all of downtown.

Well, some pretty smart folks are investing millions and millions of dollars in Downtown real estate development right now. I'm sure that they did their due diligence before they decided to proceed.
