NASA now says vast methane cloud over US southwest is for real
http://www.digitaljournal.com/science/na...cle/408082

Quote:The source of the methane is believed to be extensive coal-mining activity in the San Juan Basin, according to Eric Kort, a professor of Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and lead author of the study. He calls the Basin “the most active coalbed methane production area in the country.”

I saw this article yesterday or the day before... I noticed that they can't "prove" the coal industry is responsible for this. (Otherwise, wouldn't areas like KY/WV be covered in Methane?)

What are the yellow splotches throughout the country? Their locations don't correlate to much of anything.

They doubted their instruments. Kind of reminds us of the radar station that had just opened in Hawaii
watching the Japanese airplanes fly their way.

There are natural natural gas vents around.

That makes sense now. I knew Kentucky was not a good state for natural gas, and the large yellow area in Northwest Ohio was part of the Great Black Swamp.

All coal isn't the same. Different areas have different levels of methane, sulfer, etc.
