RE: Mid Season Prediction
I think our 2nd half is as tough as our 1st half. Just no "guaranteed" loss like VaTech was, but winning in Mt Pleasant when CMU's got a good team -- is pretty much guaranSheed.
I will be mildly surprised at 6-6, even though that's where the wind is statistically blowing, IMO. As you say Chip, youth & inexperience (in players & HC) is what makes it difficult to believe we'll keep going .500 the rest of the way. It leads to a team operating unpredictably -- better than ya thought in some games, worse than ya thought in others. However, it leans favorably in the direction of the negative when things add up.
I would see 5-7 as a safe choice, if I were betting. Going 2-4 the rest of the way, where we can all say "Oh, we could have easily been 4-2 if just this-and-that happened in those two games!"
But I still wouldn't be comfortable with it.
3% : 3-9
7% : 4-8
40% : 5-7
33% : 6-6
10% : 7-5
5% : 8-4
2% : 9-3

Until I see a couple of games where they eliminate momentum changing errors I'm not a believer they can win 6 or more games. The BSU game was a thrilling comeback, but we had to come back because we gave away way too many easy scoring opportunities. Fumbled snaps, picks, great field position on kicks.
Special teams is a mistake waiting to happen. They ALWAYS give up good field position on kick offs. They routinely commit penalties on run backs. Even when the other team doesn't score, they start out so close to midfield they flip the field for us out of the gate and force us into starting inside the 20.
On the up side, we're committing fewer turnovers, but when we do they always seem to lead to a quick six, be it a pick six, or a dropped snap on a punt. We've caused some turnovers, but most have been deep in our own territory. While they stopped momentum, they haven't been turnovers that set us up to score.
If we can beat BG, I'm all over 7 wins. But to do that we have to eliminate the big turnover, and special teams has to stop the opponent from starting out near mid field. And they have to get consistent at doing that.
Our punter and kicker are not as young as most though; no more mistakes out of them.

I had 4-8 and don't see enough to alter that and we aren't deep enough to sustain injuries down the stretch. We won't beat Ohio, BG, NIU or CMU. I think we beat Miami or EMU. Still a lot of progress has been shown this season

We will roll OU ON HOMECOMING. their defense is serviceable, their offense is terrible. They may be the worst team in the MAC. NIU has been in decline since the middle of last season. If they can't find a QB they're in a world of hurt.

I predicted 1-3 wins.
Team has performed well. We should beat Ohio and EMU. I'm down with 5 wins now, and happy about it.

Injuries to key players and/or at positions lacking depth would certainly change things, but otherwise - based on what we've seen through the first half of the season - there are going to be a lot of unhappy Broncos here if we only win one more game the rest of the way. Count me among the unhappy Broncos if that happens.

Count me in for that. IMO, I only see a 10% chance we *only* get 0 or 1 wins the rest of the way. I see the highest % being 2 more wins (with another having ~same frustration as Toledo in a loss), with a fair likelihood that we get 3 more wins and go at 6-6... but that's where it'll stop in what-to-expect.

RE: Mid Season Prediction
I said 4 wins at the begining of the year (that would be a quality step forward) I feel pretty safe that we will get to four. What I saw against Toledo (and Idaho to an extent) was the most encouraging thing I've seen in a while. I'm going to stretch it to 6...cautiously. But there is a part of me that would not be surprised with 7.....did not think I'd say that.

RE: Mid Season Prediction
Before the season I guessed that a good year would involve maybe 3 to 4 wins... the cherry on top being a win in Mt. Pee...
Sitting at 3-3 I think we MIGHT be able to sneak out a couple more wins... and I think if we can SOMEHOW take out CMU on the road... we have a good chance of reaching 6 wins. I don't see us bowling unless we reach 7... which will require a win this weekend for sure... The team has already shown MARKED improvement thus far and gives me hope going forward...

RE: Mid Season Prediction
We haven't looked bad in a game all season. Could have easily beaten Toledo but for some missed kicks in bad weather. Hung with two probable AQ bowl teams in Purdue and Va Tech on the road. I see us being in every game the rest of the year. 6-6 seems a reasonable IF we stay relatively healthy.

I think that will be our toughest game. CMU could be having a 4-8 year, and it'd still be one of our toughest games. The only way it wouldn't be is if Rawls & Davis were out, and their QB was banged up WITHOUT a good backup.
Degree of Difficulty (#2 and #3 could switch if NIU gets their sh!t together):
1. @CMU
2. @BGSU
3. NIU
4. @Miami-OH (#4 & #5 roughly same degree of difficulty)
5. Ohio
6. EMU

^At this point I'm thinking EMU might be harder than Ohio. EMU has a reason to get up for our game, Ohio not so much.

We have more of a reason to crush EMU, though. Our team is NOT liking those a-holes. And they're coming into our house. I think for the same reason @CMU would be tougher than @BGSU, if one were to say BGSU is a length ahead of CMU, is why I see this year EMU being a more "count on" win than a team a bit better -- even if EMU is treating it like an important one.

Yeah looking at the ratings for this guy by the usual suspects, I think it's time to smoke out a mole!

Did you really say that beating CMU in Mt P is almost a guarantee? You do realize that we lost there like 30 straight times right? We've now won there about 3 times in the last 15 years. So let's say 3 out of 40 just to round it off. That's not a very solid guarantee.
