Their computer rankings have been so wrong so many times recently I don't pay attention to them anymore. You never hear big conferences talking about power and computer rankings. You just hear about the polls... AP, Coaches, and now playoff... those are ALL that matter! As perception is reality for the playoff and bowl spots!

Why are "independents" ranked as if they were a league? Those schools have nothing to do with each other. Seems like just another opportunity for a talking head to say "CUSA is the 8th rated conference", even if there are only 6 conferences ranked ahead of them.

We need to get in the practice of removing independents from any conference ranking. After all, there are only 4 of them, soon to be 3. What? ND's it's own conference?

Here, I'll start:

1. SEC
2. BIG XII/X
3. PAC 12
4. ACC
5. BIG 10/14
6. MWC
7. C-USA
8. American
9. MAC
10. Sunbelt

Notre Dame is an ACC/B1G hybrid (4 games/3games). Toss them out too.

Took a look. Here are our remaining OOC games. Honestly, if we don't take at least two, I'd be disappointed. Really think we can take three.

UAB @ Arkansas
BYU @ Middle Tennessee
ODU @ Vanderbilt
Army @ WKU

C-USA hasn't beaten a P5 team all year and UAB/ODU are our last hope in the regular season?

WKU and ODU should be two wins. I think MT has a great shot with BYU at home. UAB will probably need a little magic.

I like Middle, ODU and WKU in those matchups and I expect UAB to give Arkansas a good game as well.

That's fine by me, just means ECU should be runaway favorites to win out while you guys have all these challenging C-USA games left that are bound to trip you up. 03-nutkick

Truth is Bonds, CUSA as a whole is stronger than the American so we might gain some ground as the season moves on. Especially considering that if we win out we play an extra game (Championship Game) that you guys dont have. That might be enough for us to pass you even if you dont lose another game.

The real truth is no one that votes cares which league is stronger. I don't care to have a pissing match about each leagues strengths and weaknesses or anything else, but the reality is no one outside of these boards and fans of these teams know the difference or care. If you pass ECU (assuming you are even behind ECU when the committee poll comes out) it will be because ECU loses or continues to look shaky in wins and you guys continue to dominate, not because of which league is stronger.

I thought during the preseason is was important for The American to seperate itself from the rest of us? Now that you're the 3rd ranked non-contract conference, league strength doesn't matter?

Seems legit.

In fairness, they are Tweeners. They fall right in the middle of the G5--below CUSA, and above the MAC.

Ahhh, now the tweener conference makes sense.

Maybe you had me pegged as someone who believed the AAC was ever going to be a "power" conference. It's not. A couple of teams in the league may eventually get lucky and end up in a power conference but that's it. As for "separating" from the rest of the G5 the only way that's going to happen for a league to get the access bowl consistently for 4 or 5 years in a row. "League strength" at the non-power conference level has always been judged by how good the top of your league is, not by how good the middle to bottom of the league is. The MWC was always viewed as better than C-USA, even in years that C-USA was far deeper, because the top of the MWC for the most part always had teams that were in contention or made BCS bowls and C-USA only had 1 legit run at it and never got one.

Must have. I read so many disparaging things about Marshall and C-USA along with "AAC, power 6, G4" talk it's hard to keep straight who's who. My apologies.

Vandy is baaaaaad.

Boat raced by Temple, beat UMASS by a FG in the final minutes, beat Charleston Southern by 1.

So ODU is C-USA's best hope.

Arkansas is 11th in rushing, 20th in points scored. They will just line up and try to run right through UAB. I'm hoping we stay healthy enough to complete our conference slate. I think FAU, LA Tech, Marshall, and Southern Miss are more important games than Arky.
