Basically it is designed to take into consideration everything, and that is why it was a part of the BCS.
I like composite ratings and the USA Today Composite comes out today around 2:00pm. It is basically the old BCS Rankings.
The Massey BCS ranking for this week has 5 non-P5's( 3 are G5's) ahead of A-State:
#9 ND, #43 Colorado State, #44 BYU, #46 Boise St, and #47 Utah.
Of course the import thing is the committee is expected to still utilize these unbiased rankings in the determination of who is in and who is out, especially for the G5's.
My bad I left off #20 Marshall and # 33 ECU as G5's ahead of A-State.

I wonder if our finishing 7-4 in a weak SoCon last year is still distorting the rankings.
Like I have said before, computer rankings without transparency have no legitimacy in my mind.
I don't believe so. I think he only goes back 7 games. Now where we were ranked to start the season is why we are a good bit lower than A State.
I think the difference is the quality of our FCS opponents. Since Sagarin foolishly ranks FCS and FBS together, that means Montana State has a higher ranking in this poll, compared to an awful Savannah State.
The South and ULM wins should equal out, so that leaves us with the Utah State win as well.

Utah is P5 (PAC 12)
Make that #47 Utah State.
I was told after A-State beat Utah State that that win put them in the 'mix', and keep up with these rankings, especially those that are based on the old BCS rankings.
The committee members are expected to rely on them much more for the G5's.
Memphis losing to Houston was big for A-State.
In the Mix for what? The Sun Belt title.

Did not really ask but I was talking about A-States goal of being the best G5 teams so I assume that.

We have no chance of that. We'd need Marshall, ECU, Central Florida, and half the MWC to collapse.
You've got to go undefeated if you want that title.

Sorry, corrected it but this and the other 'rankings are what is being put out there in the real world for mass consumption for those here that are even interested in what is out there.

Not sure about the undefeated, but no doubt A-State is a long shot to be considered the best, but has a chance at the top 5. Do know the folks at A-State want very much to be in the mix for the best G5, and even being in the top 5 seems to be important.

In a year like this year, we'd need to be undefeated because of the weak SBC schedule. In a strong SBC year, 1 loss is survivable provided its to a P5 team and you have at least one P5 win to overcome that.

AState's stated goal is to contend for the access spot on a regular basis, got to win the league and be up there in ratings. This isn't the year it happens but we knew that going in with so many underclassmen on the two deep.

RE: Reactions to Week 7
Probably was the access bowl and not playoff, but whatever it was noted that the A-State AD said 'it was not if but when' they made it.
Do know they think as of this Sunday A-State could still finish in the top 5 G5's, and Memphis losing helped that cause. They want very much to be in the top 5 G5's ASAP.
They also think selecting the best G5 will probably be less political and you can pretty much tell where your team stands based on the computer rankings that use the old BCS formulas starting around the middle of the season.
