I don't think you can put UAB over MTSU just yet. They lost to what you have as your #1 team. UAB lost to what you have as your #8 team. IMO, MTSU is #2 or #3 till proven otherwise head to head or a bad loss (bottom half of conference).

There are a bunch of teams that have been very inconsistent making this very difficult. Marshall is the only team that has been consistent all year and is easily the #1.
1. Marshall
2. La. Tech
3. MTSU
4. UAB
5-10 It seems to depend on the week and who is the home team. You could make a case for Rice, FIU, FAU, UTSA, WKU, and UTEP to be here.
11. ODU
12. UNT
13. USM

I agree. They played what now is the number 1 team in the country very tough! And only played one game this year below what I beleive they should have and I might give them the 2 spot

RE: Week 7 CUSA rankings
Rice and La Tech are basically mirror-images of each other, with similar schedules and similar results to this point. Both have played two big boys relatively tough and had a surprising loss in the first six weeks.
They also have very similar remaining games though Rice does have to go to Marshall where La Tech does not. Rice can make up for this with an end of season win against La Tech but they will have to do it on the road. UTSA can still upset their apple cart as they go for the west division crown as both host the RR's in the next few weeks.
La Tech has the advantage here but it will be won or lost on the field.

UAB
Rice
UTEP

UTSA

WKU

Placed FIU over UTSA due to overall and conference record and FIU over UAB due to head to head. I know that's mixing fruit in the bowl but that's how it is until we get more games under our belts.
It also means by my current reckoning that UAB has the toughest row yet to hoe this season...

The East is a Beast. I think the MT/UAB matchup this weekend could be a classic similar to MT/WKU earlier this season. It will be interesting to see how we respond.

It seems that the transitive property of games being classic would imply this weekend's game will be a classic. It's homecoming weekend for MT as well, so I expect one of our better crowds for the season if weather works out. Or maybe that would be an associative law...
Anyway, here's to a great game this weekend. Hope a rejuvenated UAB fanbase brings a good crowd.

Knowing MUther, I think he was probably just stating his opinion instead of ranking all the teams.
BTW MUther - where do you reside in the stands these days? Still in 111?

This is probably a bit of my bias showing, but I am not sure how you can say Rice is "underachieving" anymore... We've won three straight games, two of which were on the road. I honestly don't see how we're any different than LA Tech. It's as if our loss to ODU defines our season, but LA Tech's loss to NWST doesn't count.

Yeah I agreed with the ranking T had 'cept for that one point.
Wow, HD76. I haven't felt a presence like that in a long time I still sit wherever. We've been mostly on the west side the last couple years. Got tired of sun in my eyes for the games. And now they're all at noon so it doesn't matter anyway. Been worried about you. Hadn't seen or heard from you in a long time.

Pick the better wins:
Southern Miss by 18
Hawaii by 14
Army by 20
or
UTEP by 52
North Texas by 21
LA-LAF by 28
I personally think UTEP and UNT would beat all three of Rice's wins. ULL is garbage.
Also, timing is a big factor. 0-3 vs. 2-1 at the end of 3 weeks probably hurt as much or more.

All those teams appear pretty comparable. Margin of victory doesn't tell you that much, we're a team that values long drives and time of possession (I believe we were top 10 in this stat last year and are again this year). We could have run up the score vs. Army, who showed no ability to stop us at all, but just decided to run out the 4th quarter. La Tech has done well this season, no doubt about it. I have no problem with them being ranked above Rice. I have a problem with them being ranked 2nd and "RISING," and Rice being ranked 9th and "UNDERACHIEVING"
