That all adds up to ODU being the better team.
Well ODU bear Rice at Rice and I don't have ODU ahead of Rice........
Play full strength squads at ODU and maybe the outcome is different, who knows.
When you have 1 yard td drives, it does tend to lower your total yardage output.
your average drive was 25 yards
He is delusional. Play full strength ODU squads? Does he think that midway thru the season that ODU is the only team with injuries? UTEP had some players on D that were unavailable for this game and I suspect that every team in the country is having to shuffle their lineup at this time of year. Part of the game. Not saying that ODU isn't a ODU did beat Rice on the road but he fails to bring up the fact that Rice was short handed at a very critical position in that game.good team. I think they are but they were not the better team this past Saturday when they lost to the Miners.
That's odd since you actually quoted me in the post:
"I disagree with where people are putting Rice. They played a ridiculous early schedule with some key injuries"
You are right, I missed that. Good for you and my bad.

I know I put ODU over UTEP despite UTEP just winning. I think the injuries to 2 offensive lineman and NT were big factors as well as playing on the road. I think ODU would win at home vs. UTEP, but cant really argue if anyone puts UTEP higher. I don't have FIU as high as some others.
I disagree with where people are putting Rice. They played a ridiculous early schedule with some key injuries. I think it will end up being Rice vs. Marshall.
I totally see why you think ODU is better than UTEP. After all, UTEP outgained ODU 486 to 357, had 23 first downs to 16, gave you the ball at the UTEP 1 so you could have a 1 yard drive for a td. So I believe you are on to something. That all adds up to ODU being the better team.

1 yard drives tend to hurt your average, correct? That isn't a difficult concept.
Comparing total yardage does little without context. ODU ran 53 plays and gained 357 yards or 6.74 yards per play. UTEP ran 78 plays and gained 465 yards or 5.96 yards per play. It was a close game that could have gone either way.
In my opinion as I stated, I think ODU would be the better team, but stated that UTEP beat ODU so you could certainly argue UTEP is better. But, 1 team winning over another doesn't automatically mean they are the better team because there are 11 other games to judge from as well. (ODU beat Rice, but they certainly aren't as good of a team as Rice is as I pointed out in my rankings) Injuries and homefield are just 2 factors that can influence the final score.
If they play again, does UTEP win? Maybe. If they played 10 more times, how many would UTEP win? Who knows. In my opinion ODU is a slightly better team than UTEP and is why I put them ahead of UTEP in my rankings.
If I'm delusional, sobeit but it's 1 persons opinion. As a school that has had football forever and playing at home, UTEP should have completely dominated ODU.
That simply doesn't hold true for any team. ODU played toe to toe with NCSU which has been around forever. ODU beat Rice, also around forever. UTSA clobbered Houston, around forever. I could go on but of all schools that "should" completely dominate anyone on the FB field, UTEP is not one of them.

take away the 1 yd drive. ODU averaged 27 yards per drive. Math isn't a very difficult concept.

RE: Week 7 CUSA rankings
Punters mistakes almost cost us the game. Despite their screwups we were dominating in every facet of the odu game. You just can't see that. You couldn't stop the run and that's our best feature. But you DO have a good team and we beat you and that's what counts.
