RE: UTK's demise
Let this sink in.
Last 6+ seasons:
One winning season (7-6).
36-45 record overall. 14-37 in the SEC.
Four consecutive losing seasons. Last time (previously) UTk had back to back losing seasons was 1910-11

RE: UTK's demise
It's actually kind of sad considering what they've done over the years to benefit themselves at the expense of UofM. They should be doing something with it.

It is satisfying that the Vols could not move the ball against the Black Bears any better than the Tigers. I have no love for UTK, but I think Butch Jones will turn the Vols around.

I think so too. He's getting the talent in and frankly, should've beaten Florida and Georgia this year. In a year or two, he'll have UTK doing what Freeze has Ole Miss doing now.

Are you an Ole Miss fan if you admit they're doing well this season?
Perhaps go and start a thread asking someone on the main board to explain what "Football" is to you, first.

Know more about it than you. Did you even play any sports in your life. You are as clueless as your Vol buddies

You literally started a "Hey, please tell what Cincinnati Football is" thread no more than 3 weeks ago.
Do you need a "What is a Mississippi football" and "What is a UTK football" thread too before you go any farther into this discussion?

I think so too. He's getting the talent in and frankly, should've beaten a horrible Florida team at home (but still couldn't) and Georgia this year (Georgia lead Utk in every statistical category including the score...not sure how Utk should have won) . In a year or two, he'll have UTK doing what Freeze has Ole Miss doing now.
There is an decent chance UTK ends up 4-8 or 5-7 this year.
Tennessee's big problem is that they have to play Bama, Georgia, USC and Florida every year...and two of them on the road each year. Plus, they challenge themselves with a tough OOC game that they lose with a greater frequency than win.
While they seem to have a young group of lineman, there isn't a qb or rb that screams "gonna be great" in a couple years.
Despite TN's great recruiting haul last year, they still are being out recruited by their peers, so even if they are one of the best nationally, they still are 4th or 5th in their group of opponents.
Turning the corner for them will be going 8-4 with an occasional 9-3, 10-2 and 7-5.

I think there's probably a 95% chance that UTK ends up 5-7 this season. However, Jones' success won't really turn on this season. Moreso the next 2.
But especially with Muschamp's ultimate canning at the end of this season, timing couldn't be better for Jones. UGA is out recruiting UTK, but that's about it in the East. UTK will have a tough road to hoe schedule wise, but what SEC teams don't?
Jalen Hurd could very easily be UTK's workhorse running back for the next few years, but you're right about their QB. No saviors coming in in this year's class. Josh Dobbs may be serviceable with a bit of development, that is yet to be seen.
I agree with the last part. I'm not saying that UTK will be an 11-1 team year in and year out going forward (neither will Mississippi for that matter). If they're averaging 9-3, then they're probably going to the SECCG out of the East every few years, which would be better than anything the program has done in the last decade.
