RE: What is McIntosh's status?
Don't you think if Maddie could throw he would have started ahead of Hare. Every account from people here who attended summer practices also said the same thing. People always assume the backup QB is the answer to all life's answers, it gets old after awhile

So you really have no first hand evidence of him being a poor passer. All your opinions that he is such a poor passer are based on people's opinions during practices and that the coaches haven't given him the chance. That's BS.

No, actually we've seen him play and make some damn good passes, actually. Granted it's not a large sample size. There is, however, a large sample size for Hare's throwing ability, and it's not good.

It has nothing to do with Maddie being the backup QB. Maddie hasn't had the chance to overthrow wide open receivers down field like Hare has. And, MD, you're smart enough to know that if you have a QB with the ability to run, it keeps the defense honest and off balance. Don't you think, even for a second, that Hare's inability to do that is closing his passing lanes? They don't respect him as a runner. Maddie doesn't have to be that great of a passer. He can bring the threat of the run, which opens passing lanes up for his receivers. This is what Lynch did. He wasn't a great passer! What you don't seem to get after all of this talk is the type of QB that can run the ball effectively can open things up in this offense. It has no bearing on who the backup quarterback is. Call him Jim Bob for all I care.

If a QB can bring the run threat and be an okay passer, he can run this offense full steam.
If a QB can't bring the run threat, but can be an okay passer, he will not run this offense effectively.

I can't believe there are still people out there that think Hare should be playing.

I don't think there is an overwhelming confidence in Hare, he obviously has looked bad. But in comes down to somebody has to go out there. As sad as it is to say, Hare is the best option. That is unless of course McIntosh is healthy, might as well throw him out there if he is ready.

No, he's not. He does literally nothing well. There's not a play in NIU's playbook right now they can run confidentally because of him.

RE: What is McIntosh's status?
I would like to see what Maddie could do for a whole game. He definitely would run with it more on designed run plays. I know he is not Lynch but he is the best runner of the three. Lynch opened up the pass because the safeties had to be in the box and respect Lynch running. Then you spread 4 out and it opens up the middle. Maddie is more likely to succeed under this formation than Hare. Just would like to see. I don't think Hare is improving with each game.

I agree. In fact I feel that he has regressed to the point that he has lost the confidence of his teammates. Carey better take control immediately and salvage this season.

Long term, you have to believe that Root , Graham, or another QB will take control of this team immediately after this season ends.
