Somebody shoot me in the face.

For a brain fart of the first degree, I truly apologise. The OWLS will hold on for the win!

UTSA @ LaTech: La Tech moves to 3-0 in conference.
Western Kentucky @ FAU: Mostly a guess.
UAB @ Middle Tennesse: Close call, the Vegas line has been trending in UAB's favor.
Marshall @ FIU: If FIU can force turnovers and get first downs, this could be close. I think the Vegas spread of 21 will be close to the actual margin.
Southern Miss @ North Texas: Mild upset. I want Southern Miss to win a couple games in conference.

Didn't mean to pick all but one road teams, it just happened.

RE: Wk. 8; Lines in the Sand
OK, fellers, 27 of you have cast your picks. I'm a little early in showing picking trends this week, but I'm off to Miami in the morning for a Herd Football weekend. If any of the Herd or Panther faithful are at FIU Stadium on Saturday night, stop by Section 30, Row 8. I'll be the old guy with a short, full beard. I'd love to meet you.

Here are the trends. I'll be back Sunday afternoon to tally the results and post the "picker" prognosticator for the week.

LaTech over UTSA (26 picks to 1): a few of you got confused and called this UTEP...but it's UTSA. If that changes your vote, let me know before kickoff.
Western Kentucky over FAU (18-9) Firepower over defense tips the picks
UAB over Middle Tennessee (14-12) Really a "pick-em" No clear trend.
Marshall over FIU (25-1) Many felt the Panthers would cover.
North Texas over Southern Miss (17-10) Softest pick in the group this week. Many felt home field advantage would tell the tale.

Have fun guys.

That hurts! Not so much the vote but being confused with UTEP

Only way it' a blowout either way is one team commits a bunch of turnovers. Two evenly matched teams. UAB should have won last year with a crappy coach. UAB now has a very good coach and significant player upgrades. I picked us to win a close game. I will be surprised if it is not.

Speaking of defense-smashing, what is yours going to do?

I'm getting a lower score vibe for some reason. I guess we'll see...

RE: Wk. 8; Lines in the Sand
I had a great trip to Miami to watch my Herd play, and glad we came out with a win. As far as "pickers" go, this week, only one premier picker picked all 5 winners: Congratulations to ODU AGGIE who correctly mastered this week's games. There were a bunch of 4's, but there were several games that tripped up a perfect performance.

In terms of year to date, nastybunch maintained his lead, although it narrowed to 1 this week. Nastybunch stands at 55 correct picks, with the following close behind; Cnelson203 (54), Dawg87 (53), Stick4489 (52). Cincydave is next up (49), olliebaba (48) and BeliefBlazer (47). Several others follow with 40 or more.

The results this week took several of us by surprise, as C-USA in-conference play continues to be a blood bath, as usual.

LaTech - 27 over UTSA - 20. The Bulldogs are now in control in the West
FAU - 45 over Western Kentucky - 38. BIG 4th quarter rally for the Owls to win it.
Middle Tennessee - 34 over UAB - 22. Blue Raider rally in 4th quarter overcomes Blazers
Marshall - 45 over FIU - 13. After slow Marshall start, Cato sets NCAA record with 39 straight games with a passing TD.
Southern Miss - 30 over North Texas - 20. The question has to be asked with this road win. Are the Golden Eagles back? May be the case.
