Week 8: Sunbelt Prediction Thread
We are now starting to see how this season is shaping out. Good for some, and bad for others. With Arkansas State, Georgia Southern, and ULM on a bye week, there are only 3 games this Saturday, and one on Tuesday.
Louisiana @ Texas State 31-28: In my opinion, this is the most evenly matched game this week. I think it will come down to whoever wants the win more. I think Texas State will play with something to prove, and will win at home.
App State @ Troy 38-17: Troy is finally out of their losing streak with a win over NMSU last week. I think they are slowly improving, and will roll over App state, who lost to Liberty last week.
NMSU @ Idaho 35-31: I see this game as being pretty close too. Both have decent offensive throwing capabilities, and both have horrible defenses. Who will win? I think NMSU will pull through, and Idaho will be 0-7.
Georgia State @ South Alabama 45-21: South Alabama shouldn't have a problem blowing GA state out out the water this week. I see them having a clear lead the whole game.

Louisiana @ Texas State Texas State wins by 10. ULL is weaker this year. I just dont see them getting a win @ Texas State with the way they have been playing.
App State @ TROY Troy wins by 14...As ive stated as long as Troy plays as well as they have the last 2 games they can run the table. Troy improves to 2-1 in the conference after this one. Troy is getting better every week and Last Saturday was the best by a 100 miles.
NMSU @ Idaho....NMSU by 7. Idaho has the 2nd longest losing streak in the country I believe. I Dont see that coming to an end here. NMSU rebounds
Ga State @ USA USA by 21....USA will be too much for GA State to handle especially on the road.

RE: Week 8: Sunbelt Prediction Thread
Couple of things:
1. Anyone predicting us with a runaway victory is crazy. Even if we were to be thumping them, for whatever reason (and there's plenty of discussions as to why this happens), we let a team back in the game or they work their way back into the game. So, a relatively close game is in store, unless the Cajuns say we should be an FCS team this year.
2. I think the big D-line of the Cajuns will really put a hurting on our running game, meaning we will have to win with the pass. This game, I think, will show how much Fran trusts Tyler Jones.

Looking at the statistics, that big D Line has done nothing really to stop opposing run games.

ULL has one defensive turnover in five games. They have a total of seven sacks in five games. They are really struggling defensively. Tyler Jones needs to get the ball out quickly and avoid turnovers. If that happens, we should win this game.

While I like the kind win predictions by most on this thread in favor of tx state...I find myself eagerly cautious to agree. Just hoping to be in a position to win the game in the fourth quarter. Looking for a competitive game. Hoping the bobcats win but see the score as tx state 30 ull 35

RE: Week 8: Sunbelt Prediction Thread
UL Lafayette at Texas State: The Question must be asked for this game, are the Cajuns struggles this year a product of a tough schedule, or a flawed team? Thing to watch: If Texas State takes the lead early, how will both sides react? Will Franchione go into stall mode and let the Cajuns have a chance to get back in it, or will the Cajuns hopes begin to sink assuming its just like the other games this year? Texas State 31 UL-Lafayette 24
Rest to come Friday.

The USA GSU game I hope will be closer. After getting our butts handed to us I'm very interested in how this team responds. Not saying that we'll win of course. But besides the Washington game all games prior to that debacle were competitive even with arguably the worst defense in FBS.

When you give up 5 runs greater than 70 yards on the season it does tend to skew the average YPC.

Can Troy pass? At all? If so, they'll win.

Have to agree with Rev.
I will say that the Cats have shown potential to be a dominant team, but not sure if everything is firing on all cylinders, including Fran. His press conferences on the always sound so defeatist. "We're still 2-3 plays away from being a bad team ULL was out or our league last year, they took us behind the woodshed and beat us, and they return the exact same team as last year, so we'll see if we can keep up with them this year,." Sounds like he's already accepted the fact that we will lose this one.
Like I said though, if Fran decides to wake up and the team figures out how to be consistent and play with some confidence there is lots of talent that can put a beating on ULL. Will be fun to watch.
