I have never seen this kind of self loathing after a loss. Some of you act like Houston is a cupcake. There is just no pleasing some people.

A solid game that could have gone either way. Any realistic fan would know that. They made plays, and we didn't. Props to them.

RE: Get a Grip
This loss does not make the first five games disappear. It isn't the end of the world. Every season has highs and lows.
Still sucks though :(

RE: Get a Grip
I'm ticked because in the stands it didn't look like a fumble, to me it looked like his butt was on the ground with both hands on the ball.
Also, why the clock was leftto run after a player runs out of bounds.
Just got another helping of the home cooking that the officals give us during conference games.

Yep, apparently it was a fumble from what I was told from someone who watched on TV. I didn't think so in the stands. The clock thing I still don't understand.
5 TO's killed us.

If you've had 5 turnovers and you've got the ball with 1 minute to play with the possibility of winning...

RE: Get a Grip
No disappointment here this is Tiger football that I have followed all my life. It is the Memphis way get to a point you think you might be a truly special team then they step back to average.
This team like all Tiger teams wins a game or two they were not expected to win then lose others. As I said couple of week's ago we can win any game or lose any game left on our schedule.
Face it a Memphis football year is consider wonderful if we win 6 games, 7 games wow, 8 wins have we done that more than twice in the last fifty years unreal ? 9 wins what once in 63, and yet we had posters calling it 10-2 year last week. We need perspective here. Last night was a bad game in all areas but get used to it we will have others just like it this year.. and hopefully we have some good games too.

RE: Get a Grip
Missouri got hammered by a Georgia team at home with their 2nd string running back. They started the day in the top 25. Houston is not Georgia, but It's a long way from 3 wins in 3 years to 7, 8, or 10 wins.

They are a cupcake. But five turnovers will make you lose to a cupcake.

For the most part have not seen dramatic over reaction. Some trolling, some over the top nonsense, but not really that bad.

You're right. Houston was a team at the beginning of the the year I put down as a ?. They were a 1/2 yard fumble away from beating Central Fl. We still have a good team but we are a team that can't turn it over 5 times. And yes, I do think the play calling weak especially when we got to the 4 yard line.

nothing like the spread offense from the 3. Like the halfback pass from there against UCF.

RE The clock running after Ward ran out of bounds, the NCAA rule is:
"e. Starts on the Referee’s Signal. For each of the following reasons, the game clock is stopped on an official’s signal. If the next play begins with a snap, the game clock will start on the referee’s signal: ...
3. Other than with fewer than two minutes remaining in a half, a Team A ball carrier, fumble or backward pass is ruled out of bounds"
So the clock starts after an out of bounds play unless there are < 2 minutes remaining in the half. There were about 2:30 left after Ward went out of bounds, thus the game clock restarted.
It's a shame that the announcers don't know the college football clock rules. Would have saved the viewers a lot of confusion.
