Way too early, but ECU is committing a ton of penalties. USF is having some trouble moving the ball, but the Pirates are seriously struggling against the D.

Go Bulls! In case you don't know, the head coach of the Bulls is Willie Taggert. He is a WKU alumni/player that left WKU to go to USF which is near where he was born and raised.

The elder Harbaugh and Willie Taggert came to Huntington in 1996, with a ranked team as I recall, to provide one of the more intriguing early season match-ups in the 1-AA ranks. IIRC, it was still within reach at half (20-0), but the Herd was a bit too much for WKU (as it was for every 1-AA team that year). Final was 37-3.

IIRC, Taggert was nimble and elusive, but the WKU OL couldn't handle the Herd's defensive pressure, and Taggert didn't have the time to throw to his receivers.

ECU looks beatable. I don't see them running the table the rest of the way.

Everyone's beatable. We're talking about 18-23 yr. old kids playing w/ an oblong ball. ECU's pretty good folks, great skill players all over the place. USF played tough tonight the first half, especially on D. Lots of really big, fast athletes on that team, a good comeback win for the Pirates.

The first half was the worst half of ball I have seen us play in several years, tons of mistakes, and tons of penalties. We came out in the second half and held them scoreless and got the offense going. Gut check game on the road…USF has played some decent teams pretty tough, they are a few guys away from being a pretty good team.

One thing that is crystal clear…The AAC officials love to throw the flag. Our last 2 games with AAC officials have been two of our most penalized games in a few years. I guess the old saying that you can call holding on every play is true and the AAC officials come damn close to doing it…They also like the hands to the face call as well. You see that a lot on the lines in football and mist officials do not call it if your hands slip up the face and you take them down right away…Not the AAC officials, they call the games tight. Our guys are need to get adjusted to this quickly.

04-cheers Still won by double digits and outscored them 21 - 0 in the second half. I will take 6 more just like it.

MU's had that referee before a few times, and I agree, he's the "over officious jerk!" of the entire CFB universe. Just pitiful. I assume that his "crew" work with him and follow his lead, although I certainly don't know that for a fact.

Just insane how involved they are in the game. I have never seen a game officiated to that degree and it was not just on ECU.

I can't confirm it, but during the call in show after the game a couple fans called in. They were listening to the radio broad cast and right before the coach's interview at the half we were questioning some of the calls being made and people said you could hear over the mic the Ref saying " don't expect any calls from us tonight". If true the tape should be sent in and the crew fired on the spot. Never have I seen a team called for so many PF, most of which ESPN did not show. Heck Justin Hardy got called for a PF, he's never been called for a PF in his 4 years here. I think he's only been flag times before in his career here, 2 holds and a push off against USM in 2012.

Odd deal for sure…I think most of their calls could be argued as legitimate by the letter of the law but it seems most crews let some of those type of things go. They were tight as hell on the holding calls for sure…Some of them were blatant and clearly holds. Anyway, they were calling it on both sides during the 2nd half…I really do not have an issue with them calling it tight if they are consistent on both side. I just prefer the officials let the guys play some and not be so involved in the game. Our guys better adjust because they called it tight as hell last week as well.
