That being said, Liberty would beat us by 2 scores this year.

Back in Sept yeah. Not yesterday.

Yeah...Liberty did give up like 650 yards of total offense to a team who has had some serious offensive woes all season. Liberty is a good squad, but no way they beat us "by 2 scores" especially in Harrisonburg.

Well in all fairness we are missing 4 starters on the back end of the defense. With that said our d is atrocious right now lol but I think it'd be a fun game to watch. I hear we play each next season on liberty's homecoming.

True. I was speaking with members in our athletic department and they mentioned we play Montana to open our home schedule and JMU at homecoming. Maybe he was mistaken and we play you on yours? Not sure though. We'll know more moving forward. Really want these games to continue.

I saw an interview with your AD a month or two ago where he said you guys play at JMU next year. We'll see if that holds true.

JMU already has the 2015 FCS O of C schedule up Morehead on Sept 5 Lehigh on Sept 12. I think Duke is our FBS school next, the 1st game would be on Aug 29. So those are our 3 O of C games in 2015 no Liberty.

2015 play should not begin the weekend of 08/29, but rather the following weekend of 09/05. Unlike these past two years there will only be 11 FCS games played.

I think it would be great if we could have Duke lined up, and I'm not sure where you received the information, but Duke is scheduled to play NC Central as their one FCS game next year.

It does appear we are in need of a third OOC game and completing the contract with Liberty could be the solution. Having only three OOC games and all being at BFS seems unusual, but not surprising.

I don't believe a decision has been made on the FBS opponent for 2015. Everything is in flux at this time.

Duke's OOC is full for the next 3 years.

Did you say we will be in year one of our transition???

Actually, I've been scanning through FBS team's OOC schedules for next year and its not looking good for us getting one lined up. Its very rare we don't know by this time.

The last time we we late lining one up was the VA Tech year and that one fell in our lap at the stroke of midnight. We were due to play VMI and Tech was due to play Eastern Michigan. VMI wanted out of our deal and EMU wanted out of theirs with Tech and a miracle took place 6 months later.

The public does not know but that does not mean something has not been lined up. There are several FBS teams with open dates in 2015.

Boston College is a possibility in the ACC. Miami also is in need, but that isn't going to happen. Slowly going through each conference.

Update: ECU is in need. Hmmm! Though, they normally don't go with an FCS game. They are much like the Cincy Bearcats and work deals with FBS schools.

Here's the article I mentioned earlier.

Quote:I’ll continue to play at least one FBS and play FCS teams the rest of the way out, including some powerhouse FCS teams. We’re getting there. We’ve got Montana coming in next year. We’ve got [James] Madison next year.

I tend to believe this will happen. Though, if it does, I sure would like for us to push the two year Morehead State contract into '16 & '17 rather than '15 & '16 and find a money deal with an FBS team. I know a lot of you like 7 games at BFS. Being a little selfish and living in Charlotte, I simply cannot make it to 7 home games; therefore, I'd rather see us get some cash.

Continuing to look at FBS teams needing a game in 2015: Alabama is still looking in the SEC. Middle TN State and Southern Mississippi are possibilities with CUSA as well as some of the TX teams, but we aren't going to TX for a small paycheck. Bowling Green and Central MI are available in the MAC and I believe they are out of reach as well. TX State and UL Lafayette are the only two Sunbelt teams with a scheduling need for 2015, and that isn't going to happen.

If we were to sign a FBS game for next year, Boston College is the most likely with ECU and Middle TN the next in line as possibilities. Certainly team schedules will change a little over the next few months, but this is what is available to JB as of today.

RE: App State loses to Liberty
The Duke rumor would be a nice one as it is in Vad Lee's hometown of Durham. Perhaps Withers is trying to repay a player who was a starting QB in the ACC for making the bold change and moving to FCS football.

If it doesn't happen, we know Withers has plenty of influence in the state of North Carolina so it wouldn't be shocking to see any of the ACC schools, ECU, or App State on future schedules. I'm good with all of them.
I think UVA, VA Tech, and Maryland are probably the top 3 FBS JMU could schedule, but the FBS teams in North Carolina are a nice option if the big 3 aren't available or willing.

One thing I did find, all the talk about the Big 10 not playing any more FCS games is not being taken very serious among the teams. Approximately half of them have a FCS game scheduled for 2015.

As much as I hated Appy at one time this is just not true. Before last year Appys last losing season was 1993 when they went 4-7. And the last time they had back to back losing seasons was in 1981 (3-7-1) and 1982 (4-7).
