No more all RED Unis
I can agree with this. We have lost our brand. I hate this "players choose the uniform" bs. After today they shouldn't be allowed to chose their own girlfriends.

DBTH Don't Believe The Hype

Frank Thomas had that on his locker as a rookie to keep him grounded.

NIU has got to stop believing their own hype.

Time to start a new streak.

Forward, Together Forward!

Wasn't today supposed to be a blackout?
So why does the team wear all red with white helmets?

What exactly is our brand? Oregon hasn't worn the same uniforms twice in years. Their team and brand is just fine. Many other teams have countless uniform choices these days. If you don't like the players choosing uniforms, then who should choose them? You?

Since 03 Oregon has been known for its wild, and frankly, chitty uniforms. They are also a Top 10-15 program. Oregon has the wild and bad uniform territory taken. NIU would be wise not to try to enter their territory

This combo has been the first one I haven't liked. Looked like **** IMO. The ball state comment hit the nail on the head.

Why exactly does this matter? Check out the famous Penn State white out and see what color uniforms the team wears. Was it really too hot to wear black in the stands? It looked impressive on TV.

I don't care if they wore orange and blue...would rather have had them win. I don't like red pants, but I realized yesterday that was the least on my mind. Game (win v lose), tailgate, weather, attendance, etc

My point is, it does not matter. If it was hot and wearing black was uncomfortable, bitching may be OK. It did not appear that way, so please stf.

Guessing your last statement "it looked impressive on TV" is in regard to the fans wearing black. Glad to know it looked impressive, I think everyone in the stands wearing red when it's a "red-out" will look great too. The idea that everyone is visibly showing their support for the team just makes a little more sense if the whole idea of the promotion is in sync. It wasn't a concern over being too hot to wear black. Go through some of the other threads and notice how many people thought they should have been wearing a more traditional red jersey, black pants, black helmet combination for Homecoming. Yes, Penn State's fans were in all white, but the football team was in its traditional white helmet with single blue stripe, blue jersey / white numerals, white pants combination. Yes, Oregon has 108 possible versions, but this black uniforms look more menacing and variations of school colors is getting ridiculous. On Saturday, Purdue was in all black with a fluorescent green "P" on the helmet to match the shoes and socks and it didn't help them one iota. How about NIU does it "the hard way," we focus on the win and not being fashionable.
As was recently noted in another thread, we all have our individual opinions and this board is here for us to be able to rant, vent or disagree......so I won't stf!

What a bunch of 2nd grade bull****. Do you think Joe Novak sat down with us and asked us if we were happy. Then let us pick and choose stuff. ITS BLACKOUT DAY PUT ON A JERSEY AND PLAY LIKE ITS HOMECOMING.

I've had it with this mickey mouse crap. Kill, Mallory, Culpepper all guys who didnt care if the players were "happy"! We have lost our edge because we are worried about who is happy.
