So we lose what some people say were our "best players", but our defense continues to get better. That's coaching.

This season just shows how abysmal our defensive coaching has been for the last 8+ years.

It shows how abysmal ALL of our coaching has been pretty much since we went I-A.

I'm offically terrified of losing Bill Clark in the offseason.

Yeah, lets cultivate that thought so that our opponents can use that against clark in recruiting. But its obvious that by comparison weve only had amateur coaching staffs prior to this year.

I really LIKE being on the upside of a big score since we have been on the down side so many times in the past. These new coaches and their infusion of new players are certainly changing things at UAB football. Even the loss at MSU looks differently since then. We might even get to the point of EXPECTING a win rather than just being hopeful for one. I particularly like seeing UAB play at an intense level for all four quarters of every game. This may be the best conditioned team UAB has ever put on the field. Zac has done a great job.

This was a big win and a big confidence booster for our team. Go Blazers!

Do you really believe that a coach would not have gotten the idea to use that in recruiting had it not been posted on Blazertalk.

That is the exact word I had in my head. Everything we do now, especially on the sidelines, seems so professional. Compared to the PeeWee league blunders we've seen in the past. The attention to details is something I have noticed. We have not been able to watch practice under this staff, but I've watched practice under others. The attention to details was lacking. I can only imagine what a practice looks like now. These coaches seem to know what it takes to keep a team focused from week to week. Even when we are losing, we don't quit.

That's struck me as well. Watch the sidelines during the game. Every coach is constantly doing something whether it's signaling, prepping offense/defense for the next series or just getting guys to make noise. We shuffle a LOT of players in an out and for the most part it's very smooth. Players are prepared during the week for situations and they can almost anticipate what's going to be asked of them. it just continues to shine a very harsh light on everything we've seen for 20+ years

And we seem to be steadily improving. No turnovers and as few penalties as i ever remember. Qb making better and better decisions. Defensive players staying home. Those are sure signs of coaching.

And strength and conditioning we've handled injuries well all the way to position changes.

Clark has the makings of one of the best coaches in the nation, certainly in CUSA. He's smart, organized, well-connected, passionate, and driven to succeed.

This season will create an interesting challenge because if Clark leads UAB to a bowl game this year, it will be viewed as one of the biggest one year turnarounds in the nation. What that means is that schools WILL come calling. Hope Mackin is at least in contingency mode and preparing as best he can.
