You have been misinformed sir, he only received a salary adjustment since we are sorta FBS now. The media clarified after initially reporting an extension.

Maybe Satterfield, Moore and Matthews as tri-head coaches. That way SS could call the plays from upstairs, and Coach Moore could tell him what he is doing wrong. Just so Mickey Matthews gives the interviews, there is no one like him at off the cuff remarks.

His contract was singed as an FCS program and had a clause that his pay would be adjusted to the average FBS HC salary of the conference App joined upon transition. Really nothing adjusted.

News reports had it wrong at first. Evidently they just adjusted Satterfields' salary in accordance to at least the mid SBC level. Still we have no AD right now and a new chancellor, so he is not really going anywhere. So Doc is safe.

Matthews as DC, Jerry brings in new blood on offense and takes over head coaching responsibilities. That has to be a better formula than what we got right now.

Is it really that bad? Sure, App's going to almost certainly have a miserable season, but almost everyone struggles in their first few seasons moving to FBS. Even a good first season isn't enough to stave off growing pains -- UTSA was shockingly good last season; this year they're 1-4 and struggling at home against FIU right now.

It's a learning process. At ODU, we're learning that first-hand after two blowout losses at home and now watching UTEP carve up the defense. There's no shame in losing early. It's what you do with it going forward that makes the difference.

And don't drive yourself crazy with the football tradition line. It's a different world in FBS, and it's unfair to expect the transition to be easy, no matter how great you were there.

Tradition is big at App. You don't get to stay when you lose AT HOME to middle of the road FCS teams....even if we were still FCS people would lose it.

App is more talented than how they are playing. That's bad.

Sure, but if you stayed in FCS it'd be a different scene anyway and hard to make an apples-to-apples comparison. For starters, you'd ONLY play Michigan out of the FBS, and your run-up to Liberty would probably be SoCon and FCS OOC games. This year, you had three games against full FBS programs and one against a transitioning team before Liberty. Two years ago, a win against Liberty would be crucial to your FCS playoff/bye hopes. This year, it's a dangerous game where a loss means something but a win really doesn't.

Fans of transitioning teams and teams that recently finished the transition -- App, GS, GSU, ODU, USA, UTSA, Tex. St. -- have to be patient and think long game. You'll go nuts otherwise.

I just don't think you will get it, so I will just say this isn't the transition. Most App fans get that we need to let things grow and have patience. That isn't the issue, the issue is that our program has hit rock bottom and no one ever thought they would live to see this moment. The play is so inept that it isn't digestible to any App fans with half a brain. The tradition aspect weighs heavy because that is what pulls you through a transition and should make for better play week to week regardless of opponent. That is why start-up programs struggle so hard, they don't have that aspect.

After App lost to us they have gone south fast. I am very surprised to see how they have played in the last 2 home losses to South Alabama and now Liberty.

To continue to say "we are young" is going to get old fast to a fanbase who is used to winning.

What's to not get? You lost to a team you thought you should have dumptrucked. I'm not saying "act like you kept Mississippi State to a 10-point win". What I'm saying is that, tradition or no, the grind of those first few seasons in FBS takes a massive toll out of everyone that makes the transition.

If you're seriously talking about cutting bait on your second-year coach because they haven't looked as good as you were hoping for, then that's going to scare off prospective coaches who wonder how little patience you have.

I'm just stressing that you shouldn't stress so much. You'll be a good member of both the FBS and Sun Belt. Just ride out the kinks. If he's truly a bad coach, his time will come.

Will everyone please get it thru their heads that Satterfield's contract was NOT EXTENDED? he was given a raise to bring his salary more inline with Sun Belt head coaches. No years were added to his contract.
