By soft-pedaling at practices, what the hell is he trying to save our players for, one defeat after another? Go all out, man, and let the chips fall where they may.

There are arguments, good and bad, for both sides of the contact at practice question. Teams have won using both methods.

I personally wish they had hit more during camp, and toned it down during the season. However, with as thin as we already were at some key defensive positions entering the season, I can understand why the staff would want to try and limit the potential for injuries before we even played a game.

Yep. From comments he's made, I think they were really spooked at having to play 8 straight weeks and probably in retrospect went overboard on limiting contact in practice.

He was enough of one to win a playoff game. Tebow > Dalton, Geno Smith, Colt McCoy and a number of others I've seen recently.
I don't care if his form was goofy or that he couldn't hit harder throws. And with regard to the Jets, I'm sorry but that organization and it's decisions with QB's are horrendous. Tebow was better than Sanchez, Sanchez was garbage.

This is a joke right?

Take away the check downs to Bernard, the trick plays where Sanu throws and you tell me, what has Dalton done? Throw it to AJ Green? I don't find that impressive. That guy is like 6'6 and catches damn near everything near him. Dalton shouldn't get any credit for that.

I just watched a first half where dalton was lethal despite missing his best 3 receiving threats. give me a break

o0oo He had a good half, that totally erases his God-awful performances in the post season and the fact that through 5 games, he's thrown for a whopping 5 td's 1 int. XD He's crap!

How about that great pass Carolina took back 80 yards. 3-2 and heading to Indy...this team is going to have its work cut out for them.

Fine by me. I have Carolina's defense on my fantasy team this week.

I agree that his flaws (slow release, lack of accuracy, unable to read and check down quickly enough) prevented him from being a NFL starter QB.

But can you really assume he would have been a good enough FB or TE to stay in the NFL?

Yeah the guy never agreed to give it a try and I think most people in his shoes would have tried to convert to another position just to stay on a roster. But I am not so sure he becomes an NFL caliber player at another position.

3-1-1 but I'd be hard pressed to put it on Dalton. Drove them for potentially winning drives a couple times but the defense couldn't get stops and then the kicker missed a chip shot. For all the calls that went against the Bengals and a couple mistakes by Dalton, the offense was pretty great all day (especially considering the 3 best targets were out). Defense and kicker let them down today.

Who uses a FB in the NFL anymore? Tebow isn't built like or have the athleticism of a Jimmy Graham. Therefore he would likely have to be a traditional blocking TE who catches a few passes in the flat to move the chains on third down.

It is not so easy to convert to a different position at this level. I have to think going from a QB to playing with a hand on the ground has to be one of the most different transitions a guy could make. He would have to change the way he approaches every aspect of his game from technique, mindset and getting hit on every single play of the game.

Who would've guessed that Tubs talked so much about the Bengals in the post game?

I guess Tubbs must be trying to use the "Chewbacca" defense strategy.

Anyone else getting sick of the head coach giving quotes about how bad this is and how it is not getting better? He sounds like a victim. Like he is an aggrieved fan.

Jesus H Christ the man is getting paid more in one year than the average person who is buying tickets to watch this dreck will make in 25 or 30 years yet he sounds inconvenienced and put out that this is going on.

I am not sure what he is suppose to say but I do what he his suppose to do. A good coaching staff would turn this team around to win at least 7 games, which is magic number if UC is going make a bowl game this season. (6-6 could be sitting at home) What stinks (besides UC) this year is that the American has five bowl bids, not assuming the access spot. Out of those five spots it looks like every single one of the games will be against a power five team or BYU. Next year the American has seven bowl slots and only two of them are against the power five while the rest are against C-USA, MAC, Mountain West, and Sun Belt. That number jumps to eight in 2016 with an even split between power five and gang of five games. Basically if UC had a pulse this season they are going to play in a decent bowl game, too bad this season the Cats decided to tank. A still believe 7-5 or better is possible but the coaching staff has to get to work. If UC does get to 6-6, we better be rooting for ECU to take the access spot or that Temple doesn't win more than six games. Cats are likely going to be selected ahead of the Owls based on our bowl attendance numbers but even that could be an overstatement at this point.
