What G5 team wouldn't be good if they got into the P5. Shoot, even wazzu, wake, and Iowa st have had a few good seasons. If they were in a G5 they'd be worse than Idaho

No surprise - UC's defense performs as usual and UC gets creamed again.

My God, what happened to a once very good Bearcat D??
If we could match the Bearcat defense with the UConn offense, we could probably win Division 3.

I have a serious question for UC fans. By having a bye for the first two weeks stunt any possible progression for the D? It seems to me that coaches are considering all kinds of changes on D but other teams have had more game situations to make those evaluations.

A terrible DC stunted the defensive progress.

The double bye to start the season, injuries, a new coordinator, over scheduling, an incident at a party, an accident that took the life of player, and the arrest of football staff member have all contributed to the negative vibe.
From a football standpoint the coaching change and early schedule has killed this team. I want to see what UC does with SMU, USF, and Tulane because those three are struggling too. At the end of the day this team will probably win enough games to get to a bowl game and is probably a year away from doing real damage.

Thank God we're not having to start our fifth QB in one season... Oh, wait...
I'm sick of the excuses. Coaches have found ways to overcome worse.
UC is just plain bad. No amount of excuses can explain that away. Our coaches are bad, our talent is bad... UC has returned, in the space of a season-and-half to our worst years.
Period.

They really need a 45,000 seat stadium with maybe some hilltops in the end zones. If a big enough opponent came in, especially a Florida State or Florida comes in, they can probably get 55,000-60,000 in a standing room only situation like that.
Unfortunately, land is so expensive in Coral Gables and South Florida in general, so it looks like they're stuck at Sun Life. I'm not a structural engineer but the Orange Bowl couldn't have been in bad enough shape that they couldn't have done at least something to it.

More importantly, SMU plays on campus in a stadium that is not obviously oversized (it's only oversized given how bad SMU has been in general since DP). And Miami was dominant from 1983-2002 with a couple bad years here and there shortly before Butch Davis arrived.

My guess is Butch Jones didn't recruit well his last year or 2 on defense. Am I right?

Agreed with all your points except the 21 years of dominance (83-02) too many holes in that period. Some bad years in there and I don't want to give probation an excuse for them because they more than earned it. (If anyone brings up probation) A memory i ll never forget: ECU 31 Miami 6

UM was on a roll for quite a number of years winning and playing for national championships. They were dominant at home in the OB for a long time. I like UM the big powers always looked down at them as not belonging and they took it to them

True, they were the boise st of their time before there was even such thing as Boise st in college football. They also played for national championships. Never liked them but loved the "Catholics vs the criminals" game!

Boise State never won championships or even came close. With that said, being in the city of the Orange Bowl game was Miami's gateway to relevancy and if the U was located in Des Moines, Iowa, they would have never been invited to the 1984 Orange Bowl that put them on the map.

Just saw the highlights. The Cincinnati road uniforms looked good. White jersey, red pants.
I'd like to see red jerseys and white pants at home. That's the NFL look.

It's not as dumb as it seems, Miami was not considered a legit major program until the 80's (Va. Tech, Penn State and Florida State also fit into that category). That said, BYU under Edwards is a more fitting comparison to Boise.

I bet you are a younger fan, or a nominal college football fan and don't realize that no one in the country had ever heard of Miami until the 1980's. Read the comments above about location etc too. Miami came out of nowhere and won with great recruiting (cheating) was in a great location for travel and located in the same city (stadium even) as a top 3 bowl, the Orange Bowl. They had no college football culture at all; they've never even had a football stadium. They are the newest football program in the P5--in some cases by 100 years. Yes, maybe BYU under Edwards would've been a better comparison but my point was that Miami came out of nowhere when making the Boise comparison.

Well I'm 62 and Miami was a power house school as an independent in the 1960's when George Mira was the QB. That was also around the time Steve Spurrier was putting Florida on the Football map. Florida schools were making national noise in those days and helped fuel the Florida monopoly of High School recruiting as We played Football year round like Texas kids did. Miami re engaged in Football interest in the late 1970's after a short period away from it.
