BOBBY BOWDEN has dad-gummed and gosh-darned his way into the folksy image of a coach who is more Care Bear than Bear Bryant, more Chicken Soup for the Soul than Junction Boys, more social worker than gridiron bully.

There is something admirable about compassion, but Bowden has also used his Hee Haw charms and forgiving ways as a recruiting tool at Florida State, able to woo blue-chip talent into the program's protective care.

Teenage recruits have watched the system work over the years as Bowden's hug-a-thug approach has pardoned mischief-makers and makeshift crooks.

At major programs across the country, where the perp walk has become the unofficial sack dance, accused players have been propped up by their coaches' unconditional love. And Florida State, as much as anyone, has laid out the welcome mat for misfits.

You'll have to give me a link. All I remember is a bizarre press conference with Willie Meggs, the local DA, laughing and joking about the fact that the investigation had been so botched that he couldn't prosecute.

tpd sucks but they've always sucked. In all facets. Their mishandling of this was consistent with their mishandling of everything.

And yes, it affected the investigation but didn't change the hard facts. Here's a meggs interview discussing good/bad and why the accuser "was not credible". A more professional meggs. Mark schlabach interview.

Have you ever received goods without purchasing them?
Winston didn't beat or rape anyone. But you already know this.

That was reported last week. Unless there is a video like with Gurley of Winston actually doing something there's nothing there. There are other college kids on that site too. Only Gurley is being accused by a dealer.

How stupid do you have to be to think that's a good option? I don't know. Let's ask a fan of the Harvard of the south. Duke? No. Emory? Keep guessing. Gt, unc, uva? *wrong buzzer noise* Let's ask the uf fan. So, how stupid are you?

What, the father of the FSU student whose scooter was stolen denies the NYT's allegations? Shocking I tell you. I thought the NYT was a bastion of truth.

Quote:The father of the Florida State student whose scooter was stolen by FSU football player Jesus "Bobo" Wilson in June says the Tallahassee Police Department and FSU's Police Department did not pressure him or his son to not press charges against Wilson.

"There was no pressure on my son or on my side not to file charges," Gonzalo Bellini told the Democrat Monday.

Bellini said his son was never questioned about his mental state, as he's quoted saying in the New York Times story, which appeared in print on Sunday.

If you want some context of what Willie Meggs is to FSU fans, read this article from a few years back...

http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/2003-07...-charges/3

Up until he declared the accuser not to be credible and that they didn't have evidence of any crime, or probable cause, he was considered OVERLY zealous about prosecuting FSU athletes.

But now, because it fits the narrative, the national media paints him as some lackey protecting the FSU football machine.

Seriously, read the article, about his reputation. About him prosecuting MISDEMEANORS against FSU athletes. And that article is actually pretty kind...no real treatment of him prosecuting another FSU player of sexual assault on flimsy evidence...that player was acquitted in minutes.

Never mind that another FSU player was arrested and charged and tried and acquitted of sexual battery just in the same Jameis timeline.

Read the article, and read that Schlabach interview with Meggs as well. And then maybe you can understand that when WILLIE MEGGS can't find a reason to charge Jameis, FSU fans just maybe think it's pretty likely that there wasn't a crime and that he's not a rapist.

But no, national media, just chalk it up to insane fandom, and putting success of a football team ahead of the well-being of women. Don't ever consider that maybe FSU fans have a pretty good idea how TPD and the State Attorney have treated FSU players in the past.
