We got size this year, something we lacked last year. Hopefully that will translates on the court. We will find out if the 2010 class was overrated or if CJP is in over his head

Those are not the only two options...nice try.

What we will find out is how the Tigers 2014-2015 team performs.

Boiling this down to one of two negative outcomes is a big fail.

My exact thoughts as well.. After getting the kid from Vandy this team is actually pretty loaded IMO.. The real question mark for this team was the PG position..If Kedron is anywhere near what he was at Vandy then that position upgraded from a question mark to an exclamation point!! I'm expecting this team to be better than the past few as far as the players go!!

How is that a big fail? We have been blown out and embarrassed on national TV multiple times in the last couple years and people blamed the players. A new group of players is a good measuring stick to see how good our coach is. I'm just looking forward to watching a team that doesn't get blown out by average teams.

I don't know about your last statement, but losing big Dom was a huge loss, IMO. We've now got no one who can bang with the big bodies down low.

Please list the average teams (teams with about the same number of wins and losses or some other valid measure of mediocrity) by which we were blown out (11 points or more) in the last two years.

As long as you remember that the ONLY things to happen for our basketball tea is getting blown out in games the last fee years.

THAT is all.

No consecutive NCAA. Tourneys.
No advancements in NCAA tourneys.
No conference players of the year.
No conference titles.
No wins over Louisville.
No ESPN game day wins over Gonzaga.
No all conference players.
No holiday tourney wins over top tens OK States.

...and so on.

But, because our kids did lose some games, and a few badly, THAT alone is what everyone should remember.

Indeed...massive fail...but it is smiling because I am giving it chomps.

And the most important thing right now is...our football team playing well and kicking the crap out of Houston.

I think this year may be a pleasant surprise. I think this could be the best year of the Pastner era to date. Having been critical of his coaching, sub patterns, stubbornness etc. etc. maybe he will improve. It's quite possible that the guard oriented style we've seen hurt Josh and his approach to game planning. I consider Kedren Johnson a massive upgrade from the last 4 years and hopefully the maturity of the big guys and some of our other additions will make this one of the more well balanced teams we've seen in a while.
That's my approach to this year. Certainly hopeful and positive. I also think this is a critical year for Josh in terms of floor coaching. If it's the same old thing with him, it's going to get really rough and it'll be deserved.

The same old thing being making and advancing in the NCAA tourney?

Being really good?

Every Memphis fan wanted the team to be even better...top ten and Sweet 16 caliber if not more. But considering how the team did perform, using the idea of same old as though they have been some epic disappointment feeds the myth of them being bad.

While I get it...the constant refrain that the team should be even better than the really god they have been, I mean if Pastner gets the recruits he gets and only accomplishes really good then things are bad...but this woeful revisionist history really does fit the definition of...

Miserable.

Fans will actually not take pleasure if this coming season results in an Elite Eight or a series of big wins...but will instead use that as a hammer against past players.

Enjoy the football game. Enjoy the basketball season. It is so much easier..which does not mean not recognizing imperfections.

It's okay to criticize football all of these years but say one thing about basketball and everybody gets sensitive. I guess all of those blow outs didn't happen last year.

Nope.

Swing and another miss.

There are valid constructive criticisms to be made about basketball...and everyone realizes that. Nonsensical same old same old or presentations as though the only identity of last season or of the last few seasons is disappointment and blowout losses is simply a trolling inaccurate bunch of diarrhea. If letting the sludge flow, do not fake whine when called out.

There is an effort being made to be that guy...but you are losing...badly.

No storm.

Just mild responses to your trolling style of hyperbolic criticism.

Will hold you to your word about not criticizing the team anymore.

Meanwhile, many of us will certainly discuss ups, faults, issues, triumphs and the whole gamut in a reasonable manner. And we appreciate your sentiment.
