"Jakes hasn't stopped hitting people hard. As the first half expired last Saturday in Memphis' 41-14 win at Cincinnati, Jakes got a clean but heavy shot on quarterback Gunner Kiel, forcing him out of the game with bruised ribs. Jakes finished the Cincinnati game with 10 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.

That play was typical of why people are taking notice of Memphis, whose two losses were by a touchdown at UCLA and at Ole Miss in a game that was 7-3 entering the fourth quarter."

best quote:
"You can tell the community is very supportive of what we're doing," Jakes said. "We just have to keep buying in and keep excelling on the field. It's a great culture right now for the program."

I also liked, "Jakes, whose first name is actually Bronterrious, told USA TODAY Sports he earned the nickname "Tank" as an 8-year old playing Pee Wee football in Phenix City, Ala.

"I used to get ejected from games for hitting kids too hard," he said."

Go go Bronterrious!

"Jakes, whose first name is actually Bronterrious, told USA TODAY Sports he earned the nickname "Tank" as an 8-year old playing Pee Wee football in Phenix City, Ala."

I think you are on to something there. I can think of at least two other famous Tiger linebackers from Alabama: Keith Butler and Damon Young.
