I'd follow the Pirates there, but I'm from there... but I was born in Boynton so it's an excuse to go home.

Boca? Really? I have been to Boca many times...

90% of the town will be cramming into buffets at 4:00 for the $3.99 early bird special, and will be asleep by 7:30 after a glass of warm milk.

What an exciting bowl venue!

Wait...So the county/city has to pay for ESPN to broadcast it? Is that normal? I thought we let the networks do everything, and they pay bowls?

The entire press release is the county rep apologizing that its not a good bowl and that its not the SEC, B10, or Pac12

I really hope we can get out of this contract. I'd rather have one less bowl and sign a backup agreement somewhere.

Im curious as to how much the rights to the Miami Bowl sold for and what the pay out for the Miami Bowl ended up being. Have heard very little on the details on our bowl--for instance---do we have a sponsor? Other than getting BYU on board and the announcement of the horrid time slot---there has been little news from the conference owned Miami Bowl. As its only a couple of months away, I would have thought we would have heard some of these things by now.

Quote:"This is the first time that Palm Beach County will be home to a college football bowl game," said George Linley, executive director of the Palm Beach County Sports Commission.
Perhaps the executive director of the Palm Beach County Sports Commission should be named George Lindsey instead of George Linley. If you don't "get it", ask your parents.

Seriously however, if you haven't been to a bowl in years, any bowl looks good including something named the "Boca Bowl". This one, or that bowl in St Pete formerly known as the "magicJack" or "Beef OBrady" bowl would indeed be at the bottom of the preferred list however.

Not a bad place to watch a bowl game.

I think the sponsor of the "Miami Beach Bowl," being played in Miami, is the City of Miami Beach, IIRC. LOL if true.

Both the Boca and Miami bowls are sponsored by the Tourism boards in those cities. From the article:

"You'll have a national TV audience watching the balmy breezes in Boca Raton in December and people may want to jump on the next plane down here," Abrams said.

Yep. Beats a baseball stadium in Tampa IMO.

Rather watch/hang out in Boca at a football game in a football stadium vs going down to Little Havana to watch a football game in a baseball stadium.

Little Havana or Boca?

Tough call....not.

The list of bowl games I will attend going forward are the Military Bowl and the Access Bowl if we are ever fortunate enough to make it. I've been to enough bowl games so at this point it's either got to be an extremely cheap trip or an extremely special trip. Otherwise it's not worth it I'd rather go to an AAC road game a year than a bowl game.

I posed the question to the family of the Miami Bowl against BYU and they were all for it as a Christmas trip to Miami. Brand new stadium has appeal....opponent in that case has appeal. I agree with the Access Bowl and Military Bowl. I couldn't get the family to want to go to Birmingham against an SEC team, but I could probably make that trip.

I don't see a problem with the Boca Bowl for CUSA v the MAC...its a warm weather destination in a new stadium within sight of the Ocean in the winter. As of now, it could be Northern Illinois against Marshall...so it may have bigger appeal. I'm betting Old Dominion fans would love that trip (for its first Bowl game).

Another useless bowl game. We already have too many and they keep adding more.

How about expanding the freaking playoff to give everyone a shot-
