USA Today has him ranked #9 right now.

If ECU wins out and he continues to have the same numbers while scoring 40+ a game I'd say still only a small chance.

An invite is possible, winning isn't.

its not in his hands he is so far down the pundit polls he'll need at atleast 5 or 6 guys to have slip ups

and carden has been having good games, he is going to need an AMAZING game like a 7td+ game or somethng to get his name in the convo

Was Jordan Lynch invited?

If so... 20%.

jordan lynch was invuted but it took 2 years of almost bcs busting on crazy stats to get him an invite .

to me talking realistic scenerios carden wont get an invite this year but if he had another year would have been a top candidate, what bortles would have been this year if he came back..

I don't think you can beat the Notre Dame hype machine. SEC backers are pushing RB Gurley hard too. I don't think Carden can get into the Top3.

I'll say 5%

Not sure how many they invite but he should be. Gurley should win it, IMO he's the best player in CFB. If Jordan Lynch got invited Shane could and should, he's a much better passer than Lynch was.

Shane is what is right about College football. Hope he gets a shot to represent in NYC.

I remember watching the ceremony when RGIII won it, and I think I remember the top 5 candidates were invited to NY

I remember last year we had the rbs from bc and auburn, and the quarterbacks from A&M, Fsu, and NIU. Not sure but I feel like I'm forgetting one more..

Bortles was the #3 pick in the draft.

He didn't even sniff the heisman finalists spot.

If he was in a P5 league with the same results he would have won.

Carden has less than zero chance.

According to Sporting News after it's Top 7 list as of 29 Sept.

Quote:Fringe contenders include BYU QB Taysom Hill (15/1), Auburn QB Nick Marshall (18/1), FSU QB Jameis Winston (18/1), Alabama WR Amari Cooper (20/1) and UCLA QB Brett Hundley (22/1) and East Carolina QB Shane Carden (30/1).

Take Hill and Winston out of the mix and he might be up around to 20/1.

none

g5 schools aren't part of the mix...how come you don't get this? The Heisman is the best player from a handful of p5 schools that are competing for a national title. It's not the best player in college football.

Did you bother to read the question? An invite, not win.

It is interesting that Famous FHITP Jameis isn't on there...

I think if Carden throws for 400+ in every game, only has 3-5 more INTs, and most importantly ECU wins the rest of the game he COULD get an invite, but that is a long shot.

Too early to say. A lot would depend upon the performance of the team. If we blow out everyone the rest of the way and Carden averages over 400 per game with 3 to 4 TD passes?....Id say his numbers would be good enough for an invite. Win? No fcking way.

Bortles came out of nowhere as he was considered a mid round prospect heading into the 2013 season. Plus his signature win was after the Heisman voting. However, I doubt he is disappointed how things turned out for him...

The number that are invited is not a set number. Generally, it's more than two and less than 6. There have been 5 finalist only three times in the last 20 years, usually it's 3 or 4. I believe they cut it off based on a percentage of votes received, but can't find confirmation of that.
