Does Toledo not play good enough football to be granted a warm weather game? Our last three trips have been Idaho, DC, and Detroit. For real...3 other tie ins are warm weather. Toledo deserves something!!!! A 2012 rematch would suck imo. Good thing this is just a prediction.

We don't "deserve" anything. Actually we should just be happy if we make it to any bowl at all this season considering we have a middle-of-the-pack MAC team that will finish with an 8-4 record ... at best.

Deserved and owed are two different things.

Toledo did their time in Boise and got shafted by OU getting invited last year so they are owed a warmer weather, but depends how the chips fall. Id say if they keep chugging along they could get the 2nd best tie in if all else fails (I.E lose the Mac West).

So you have us losing to Iowa State and NIU I assume? That's fair. But still would be 7-1 in this conference deserving of a bowl yes. Who would deserve the warm ones if that was the scenario? If you have Toledo beating Iowa State and losing to say NIU and BG. Then you may have a case of not deserving a warm bowl... but we'd still have probably the 3rd best win of the season OOC. I don't know exactly what some fans want from this team. We've been banged up and are 3-0. Hate to say it but 70 teams are granted these so called bowl games, and we are better than a few that will make one. Try being positive?03-idea

Bowl match ups are not decided on some sliding temperature scale pecking order. If that were the case, Hawaii would be the goal, and yet it's one of the least desirable bowls for schools and fans (though the players like it!). So many other things go into deciding the individual bowl match ups. Climate is not one of them.

Climate most certainly is one of them. It's the very reason the southern bowls were established and proliferated.

There are many teams who would decline Detroit b/c their fans wouldn't travel there b/c of the climate.

If teams declined Detroit, then they sat home and didn't go anywhere. I don't know who that would have been. Certainly the bottom conference teams and even the major conference teams who went to Detroit had few options.

When bowl organizers are choosing the teams to invite to their bowls, distance would play a much bigger factor than climate. You are confusing the bowls choosing teams with fan and team preferences. Much difference there.

Why wouldn't Florida State vs. Michigan State be the Rose Bowl game? I thought that bowl wanted to maintain as close to Big Ten vs. Pac 12 as they could.

And putting an ACC team in there does that, how?

The Rose Bowl is one of the playoff games this year though. It'll have nothing to do with conference affiliation.

Without looking again (man, am I lazy), pretty sure USA Today had the same 5 MAC teams bowling in their projections.

Why wouldn't they? Those are the teams leading the MAC and have the highest chance of being bowl eligible. We know that 5 teams are essential out of it already (UMass, EMU, Miami, Kent and Ball state.

The others are 50/50 (Ohio, Buffalo, WMU).

They can roll with the same MAC projections for another 3-4 weeks...lol!
