Depends if you will consider UCF over ECU an upset.

If you're the underdog in Vegas, it is considered an upset. I believe ECU will be favored in that game.

We can not score enough to keep up with ECU. I don't think USF can either. I think ECU will run the table. If ECU faced Memphis might be able to keep up. (never thought I would say that)

You can only blame yourself. If you'd read the darn article you would have learned this one surprising secret to avoid an upset. Where's the personal accountability in this country?

I was upset Saturday when SMU made our D look incapable on 4th down. Does that answer your question OP?

They will get it if every other G5 conference champion has two losses…They lose out to any other team with just one loss.

From a Vegas perspective I suspect the rest of ECU's games would be considered an upset if they lose but there are 3 games left on our schedule that I would not consider an upset. It is not like ECU has superior talent over the other schools in the AAC. What we have is an experienced team with a very good, experienced QB….But it is not like we can just stroll onto the field against AAC teams and out talent them.

That was very damn frustrating…Heard an interview with Coach Smith in which he explained what happened on a few of these 4th down conversions. Also I surprised to hear we held SMU to 4 of 17 on 3rd down conversions.

I am…Most all the teams in the league have similar talent to ECU. What makes the difference year in and year out is which teams have more veteran players and experienced QBs. Sure there is some talent drop off from the top of the league to the bottom of the league but that is cyclical for the most part. Most of us are recruiting the same level talent.

RE: Is ECU going to be upset anytime this season?
I think it is likely ECU gets upset sometime this year. I don't know to who or when, but it will likely happen.
ECU in the AAC is not like FSU in the ACC last year (that's really the only team I can think of that was so much better than their conference mates that I would predict an upset proof season). They will not steamroll everyone by 21+ points. FSU had decidedly better players than everyone else in the ACC.

Somewhere along the way (probably 2 or 3 times) it'll come down to a play. Same thing happened with UCF last year. Will ECU pull off that play, all 2 or 3 times? Its unlikely, just as the last second heroics UCF pulled last year were unlikely.

Here are the games that could come down to a final possession...IMO.

@ USF
@ Temple
@ Cincy
UCF

The AAC is not an easy road for the Pirates, and most of these teams have a bye week before facing us.

Sure it could happen. UCF barely beat USF, Temple, and a bunch of other schools and then went on to steamroll Baylor last year. Upsets can and do happen often. It's probably more likely than not that ECU will be upset somewhere. If for some reason the beat USF, then I will root for them to finish unbeaten in AAC play for no other reason than to keep the Marshalls of the world out of the access bowl.

Exactly…Some of our fans have unrealistic expectations for our team when it comes to conference play. Could we win out? Sure….But we could also lose a few along the way. Again, like I said above, it is not like we will be taking the field week in and week out with superior talent all over the field that will give us a margin of error.

For ECU to win out we will have to be pretty damn good week in and week out and that is a difficult task for most teams. Some weeks you just do not have it…You struggle to do the things you normally do, it is just a part of athletics. Anyone who has played competitive sports at a high level understands this…Some days, for some reason, you just do not play well.

This year? I think most would consider it an upset if UCF won. With that said, it's darn near impossible to go 11-1. Not impossible, but still very hard...no matter the schedule.

RE: Is ECU going to be upset anytime this season?
In previous years we would follow up a couple of upsets over contract conference opponents and just get close to or inside of the Top 25 and then follow that up with a disappointing performance and/or loss to a team the oddsmakers say we should have beaten.

We've got a loss out of the way early this year (USCe) and after knocking off 2 ACC teams we had a disappointing performance (at least defensively) against SMU, but still found a way to win unlike previous years.

Of all the teams remaining on the schedule, Temple worries me the most. So yes, we can be "upset", but I'm hoping we've already worked out all the bugs in the system.

I am expecting at least one loss, until the bowl season is over.
