RE: Miami O vs ND
I wish ND would play us in 2017. Make it a "shamrock series" game if needed and play it at soldier field. Im sure the ND fans dishing out big bucks for tickets would rather see us on the schedule than Miami Ohio

Just like UMASS (previous) HC was ND's & Brian Kelly's OC...the Miami HC is a former coach under Kelly.

A personal relationship with Brian Kelly is the only reason these games were scheduled.

Absolutely right. The only reason ND played WMU, is because Kelly's lived in the West Michigan area for a long time running DII power Grand Valley State... then coaching CMU. Then when switching over to coach Cinci, in the bowl game, he beat us with Cinci during the coach transition. Then he wanted 3rd time a charm on us. That bastard.

I think that an NIU vs ND 2-1 matchup would be great, with the 1 "home" game in Soldier Field. I don't think ND would have a problem with that if they had a road game open to fill in the future, but NBC might if ND didn't NEED the 'road' game (since they couldn't air it, it being an 'away' game; it'd go to ABC/ESPN).

The only way a MAC team gets a game with ND is if that team's Coach or AD at that time has ties to ND, ND's HC or AD AND ND is in a jam for a home game within the next 2-3 seasons.

That is how it happened for WMU, UMASS and Miami.

Yeah our only chance is if Swarbrick gets fired and Compher somehow wins the job. Unfortunately they don't seem to hold anyone accountable for negligence/misconduct at ND so I doubt Swarbrick is going anywhere unless he makes the decision himself. I think the games would be solid but I really have no desire to deal with the pompousness of ND.

No. If Compher got the ND job, he'd schedule a game with Idaho.

I don’t think this is what happened. Back in the mid-2000’s the NCAA regulated that all teams play 12 regular season games. ND was in a pinch and needed an additional team for the next year schedule. A handful of teams went out of their way to offer a game on short notice. As a thank you ND put each of those teams on their future schedules. WMU was one of those teams.

I also think NIU vs. ND would be a great game to watch instead of Miami O. Maybe in the distant future that will happen.
