So i just got a new laptop and connected it to my router. Now every time I close my computer my other devices cannot connect to the wifi. The other devices, ipad and cellphones cannot connect unless my laptop is open.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is the laptop connected by a cable or over WiFi? Try turning the router off, waiting a few seconds, then turning it back on. Usually resetting it like that will fix the problem. If that doesn't work, try changing your laptop's power settings to remain on even after closing the screen. It won't fix the root cause but it might help. Honestly though, if the reset doesn't work you should probably contact the router's or your ISP's tech support. It sounds like a very strange problem with how your router assigns IP addresses to new devices when they connect. Good luck.
