I find it amusing that your first question on this thread was something akin to "well, Jesus never prayed in public...show me in the Bible where Jesus prayed in public!"

It's important to note that what you have quoted IS an interpretation, and not what was actually written.

What it says is FAR closer to 'when you pray, don't do it seeking man's approval (like the hypocrites do) but seeking God's.... for if you do it seeking man's approval, that is all you shall get'. If you do it in private, you clearly aren't seeking man's approval... but God knows your heart, so He knows the difference between an earnest public prayer and one done 'for show'

That, too is an interpretation, but far closer to what is actually said.
