The score looks about right. This should be more of a defensive game. That Houston quarterback looks like a play maker, but the good thing for Memphis is that his passing is not as good as his running ability at this stage.

The Houston defense is for real and the Memphis offense is much less impressive when it's not going against whipped cream defenses like MTSU and Cinci. The Memphis offense is better than ours (who's isn't?)--but both defenses are excellent. This is going to be low scoring 17-10 type affair with Memphis coming out on top.

Maybe because Houston is no Ole Miss. Your defense is good but not on that level. If memphis must serve some humble pie on Saturday again I guess.

True...but Memphis isn't Ole Miss either. I'm just saying we aren't Cinci. I feel certain Memphis will win. I just think it will be a low scoring game. Vegas has Memphis as an 8 point favorite at home--which is basically a one score game.

The game is in 5 days. No point in doing too much back and forth on it. Let's just see how it plays out. I've already said I think Memphis has a great team this year.

I've seen this argument so many times and I have to finally say something about it...

Vegas is not interested in predicting the margin of victory, and the point spread isn't about that. The point spread is about inspiring equal betting on each team, which is why it moves based on the money put down on the game. Vegas doesn't gamble. They rely on you gambling. They're more than happy to inspire equal betting and take the money in the middle. Just like almost every other business, they're into minimizing their risk and finding a way to make money no matter what happens.

So an 8-point favorite is Vegas' best guess at what will make half the people say "I like Houston +8" and the other half "Memphis will win by at least 9."

RE: Houston @ Memphis Score Predictions:
Since I live here in H-Town, I know this game is not a given like many on both sides seem to believe. It is almost a reversal of last year's contest at BBVA. Our defense was stellar but offense sputtered all game.

This may sound crazy to UH fans but I believe we will roll (30+ pts) if O'Korn is not given extended playing time. A predominantly running QB will not get it done. That plus I may be still shell-shocked over our (UM) past, it would be so much our luck O'Korn comes in at some point and look like the QB from last year and pull it off.

I always want UH to win, but in the back of my mind I almost want this to happen so we can close the book on the LeBush experiment!

I wouldn't paint that as an arbitrary number. It actually has meaning. In other words-- the line represents the middle estimate, where the largest number of informed gamblers think the score will fall. Your acting like it has no meaning. It does. The line is interesting because its the tipping point among the most informed fans in the game that actually put their money where their mouth is. It essentially functions as a rolling poll. If the number of betters is too heavy one way or another---the line moves. Thus the line tells us what that segment thinks. Its not static or arbitrary. It moves and conforms to reflect the current opinions of the group.

Look--I agree---the line's purpose is to ensure that the betting falls equally on both sides. I also agree the line is often wrong (though its surprising how often its pretty close). That said, in performing its function it does tell us what the majority of the betting public thinks.

Right with you there. Considering the expectations---this season is already in the trash heap anyway.

Sounds like it. Knee injury. I feel bad for the kid as he is a senior.

RE: Houston @ Memphis Score Predictions:
I think that this will be Memphis's "coming out" game in their second year of AAC play, proving that last week was not a fluke.

Memphis wins going away in the 3rd quarter, 38-14, mainly due to Houston turnovers.

Last week was the coming out game. Pretty sure people thought we get destroyed after that 1 play from Cincy to start the game. This next game is about playing urgent and getting closer to post season play.
