No team is immune to the sloppy game, but more importantly, we're not good enough to win those sloppy games. Coach acknowledged this earlier in the week. Our margin for victory is slim. It's important to remember that we're still building something, we're not anywhere yet. At our best we are good enough to beat most teams but it's unrealistic to expect it every week. I believe coach has us going in the right direction and the season will be fine.

Well said.

RE: Nothing has changed
We are right where we were at a few years ago when we went bowling for the first time under Tommy West.
We had just lost to Mississippi State(?) and sitting at 3-3.
We put together a pretty good season after that....so all is not lost.
We just have to circle our wagons and work on getting better. I don't think we'll see as good a defense as Houston's the rest of the season. (Of course I've been wrong before.)

Yes...10-2 posts were too hyperbolic.

Our kids should be competitive in every game heading forward, and will likely win a few with some ease.

Other teams try to win too...

The running game was severely hampered by the loss of Doroland Dorceus

Houston's D WAS impressive at times. They did a good job of stopping the run and that is always the key.

01-lauramac2 No! No! No!

You blame the coaches!

You've been around here long enough to know that players representing Memphis on the field and the court are simply far superior to any opposing player and any time they don't dominate it is because the stupid coaches stupidly told them to do something stupid. Only 5 or 6 SEC teams, Notre Dame, and a handful of other teams are worthy of being on the field with the Tigers, and even then, if the stupid coaches would simply "open up the playbook" the Tigers would win.

I had no problem with the coaching. My problem was with Quarterbacking and tackling.
