who would want to sit in rain and 40 degree weather to watch B1G football? I don't even care to watch it while sitting in my recliner in 72 degree a/c.

I will never understand an AD or coach chastising fans or students for not attending games. Encourage? Sure. Chastise? No.

Most of you here are diehard fans who feel a responsibility to support the team, and you'll do so no matter the circumstances. Totally your right. The majority of people are not diehards. It's a free market, and they can and will spend their time and money however they choose. So what if some of the students opted to go to a party or watch the game from the comforts of home? Last I checked, they never signed anything that said they have to attend football games. I'm willing to bet an AD chastising them won't make them feel any different.

If Mich State football suffers from the effects of poor attendance, then their students, fans and the local public in East Lansing certainly will not have room to complain about it. Chances are they won't care, as evidenced by their lack of attendance in the first place (especially when the team is good).

Sporting event attendance seems to be down in general these days. I'm sure there are lots of factors, a tough economy being one of them. With so much access to so many games via television, live streaming, social media, etc. it's no wonder more people are choosing to stay home. At some point it'll stop being a trend and will become the new norm.

Students go to the games to see and be seen. Once they make their appearance they leave and move on to something else.
